5.2 Crafted Gear: Gender Locked Alterations

I'm going to say it... I hate it. I do not like being forced into a skirt. Which totally sucks because of all the released sets in this patch, the crafted gear tanking set is the best looking tanking set but as a female, I will be forced to wear a frilly damn skirt JUST because I'm FEMALE, with no choice in the matter...

It's a good looking set. Congrats on the designer, truly, but forcing an entire half of a population into something JUST because of the gender they are is NOT cool when there are options they would prefer in that same set.

I think the real answer for this dilemma is to ask SE to make chest pieces actual CHEST pieces and for skirts (or the skirt part of dresses and robes) to be part of the leg slot item. This way you can mix and match an decide if you wear a skirt or pants.

I know as a WHM main I'd greatly appreciate that since I have to rely on a limited selection of non-robe glam items to not be stuck in a robe/dress all the time since most healer gear is designed that way.

It is also laughable at the best when you can simply glamour it if you dont like a skirt

But that's the thing. If you like the chest part of a robe but don't want the skirt covering your legs, you can't just "glamour over it" and keep the chest.

My suggestion allows you to use a chest slot item as a shirt OR a robe/dress if the skirt part of the model is on the leg slot item. Pants aren't exactly complicated and we have a wide variety of them to choose from in game already, so if you wanted to go sans skirt/robe/dress you could easily glam one of the bajillion different pants models over the skirt and dye it to match. And if you like the skirt/robe/dress part you can just use the leg slot item as is. It's more versatile this way and while you are correct that SE can't please everyone, they can take steps to please as many people as possible.

Except that if the skirt is part of the legs, then it would get disabled when paired with 99% of the tops in game.

They avoid clipping by creating two models for a lot pants. If there's a belt/slash/skirt/a big butt(2b) that will clip into the tops, they create a second model that removes the belt/slash/skirt/big butt. Then any shirt that hangs over the waist even a little bit will use the second model. There's only a handful of tops that keep the fancy stuff enabled on bottoms. Doing what you say might even result in the skit not even working with the top is suppose to. Its not simple like you think it is.

I fully admit that things are never as simple as we think they are, but that doesn't mean its not worth exploring possibilities. I think that if they went with skirts being part of the leg slot item going forward, they could make those new leg slot items with skirts NOT hide when paired with tops that hang down. There might be clipping in some cases, but at least the option would exist.

I'm not trying to say my suggestion doesn't have flaws, just that it might be worth trying out on one set as a test to see how it works out and if clipping issues aren't too bad, then maybe it might be worth doing regularly.

We need more gendered outfits not less, then maybe one day we will get a striking set that won't be hideous trash since females should get cute stuffs.

Cute does not equal frilly skirts lol. My characters pretty much exclusively wear pants. SOMETIMES I'll make a glam with a skirt on it if it happens to go particularly well with the look I want, but otherwise I lean towards pants. And I think my outfits are pretty darned cute thank you.

Mind, I'm not up in arms about the aiming set. That's a contest winner and I like that they stayed true to it. I also think that female outfit might look good as a DNC glam. But on the other side of that, I would prefer to have the option to make my own choices on what I wear and don't. Other people can frill it up all day if that's their jam. I'd like a little more flexibility to stick to mine.

Cute is subjective so for a lot of people it is frilly skirts, for others it isn't. They make more pants than they do frilly skirts but they do both so.

This is not my experience with skirts. The Quaintrelle's Ruffled Skirt is the only one I know of with this problem. Granted I like to wear my skirts knee length or longer so I can't vouch for the mini/micro style skirts, but none of the skirts I've used in my glamours have had any trouble pairing with tops of my choosing.
