Submersibles...but after a year.

So I built submersibles in Stormblood. then I took off from the game for a year and didn't touch them (my friend had the FC during that time).

Now I'm back and .... have no idea what I've missed, what I need to do and where I need to go. I turned in some parts for upgraded versions(?) or so I thought... but it just gave me a box. I don't see the upgraded prototypes. The only one I have on my board is Submersible Prototype VI (I think). And that requires something called Cocobolo lumber which I don't know what it is or where it comes from.

Can someone give me a TL;DR on what I need to do regarding my subs? I have no idea where to start with them. They're all a mix and match of parts, so if there's a "best in class", I'm all ears.

look up the submarine thread on the forums here. there's a list of all the sectors and what mats/items comes from each one and what "optimal" sub builds should be used, also links to sub part calculators.

You need a submarine with enough surveillance rating to bring back cocobolo lumber. then you'll be able to get the VI blueprints which will let you use the frame you traded the part for in modified sub parts.

What you exchanged for is actually a component for an upgraded part. That prototype locked behind the lumber takes the item you traded for along with other materials to create an upgraded part you can actually use. The lumber comes from submersible ventures in the newer areas. As DrWho2010 said, you'll want to check out the submersible thread. The first page of posts has some good resources and then you might want to hit the end of the thread and work your way backwards little by little.

Awesome, thank you both! I remember that thread but I didn't know they kept it updated. Seems I have my work cut out for me. I'm glad they're doing away with that "group has to be present in the workshop" nonsense. I like doing things myself..
