I was referring to the game play value of airships and submersibles, not the game in general. Get a grip.
When players are using quick synth, they're crafting dozens or hundreds of items at a time. Things that would a few hours to complete.
Airships and submersibles take maybe 10 minutes of time every other day. You collect what they found and send them back out. You sort out what to keep, what to sell on the MB and what to vendor. That's it. There's nothing else to do unless you want to upgrade your vessels and that's not something SE is going to automate for you.
"Jobs and families" is a tired excuse that needs to go away. It comes from lazy people who want others handing things to them and who are jealous of what others earn through planning and effort. I've played MMOs with people who worked 60+ hours a week and still managed to take their kids to/from school, attend their events, go out for drinks with their family and friends - and still raid 10 hours a week. They knew how to manage their time and made sure they had time for the things they wanted to do.
If you're finding 10 minutes every other day to check airships and subs stressful, then don't do it. Leave the content to others who have that 10 minutes.
If you hate doing an optional activity, then DON'T DO IT. It's a simple lesson most people have learned by the time they become adults. There are other ways to earn gil in this game.
Or maybe they've learned how the system works and put in the needed effort to have the best possible chance of getting the good drops but you haven't? If you've been doing this for years without seeing any of the good drops, then it sounds like you haven't been upgrading your vessel to get the required surveillance.
There are threads in the Items, Gathering and Synthesis forums dedicated to airships and submersibles with tons of helpful information. Try reading them.
The good drops are also very random. I may not see something for 2 months then suddenly I'll get 3 in a row. It takes patience and tolerance for RNG.
