Question about house relocation and storage

I'm very excited for Ishgard and I want to make sure I don't hit any snags when the time comes to move, so I was hoping I could get some clarification on how the system works.

I found this article from when Shirogane was released and want to make sure I understand how storage is handled: https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodes...0dd62c3c50fc74

I currently have a Small house in the Goblet, and am hoping to move up to a Medium in Ishgard.

If I'm reading this correctly it will try to put all of my estate's items into Storage, meaning I would need to consolidate my entire estate (Placed and Storage combined) into 200 / 20 items?

I guess my confusion is that it sounds like Storage was a new addition that patch, so at the time the space from storage was a bonus, but since it's something I now enjoy for granted I want to make sure that this space isn't a temporary perk of the moving process and that I do in fact have to consolidate, because that's a lot of retainer shuffling I need to plan for.

I realize this may change closer to release, but I'd still like a better understanding of the current system and if there have been any changes since Shirogane.

    _____

Nevermind, I think? I just now noticed this is doubled to 400 / 40, which SHOULD cover a small estate (RIP medium and large, I guess?) but would still like confirmation.

It expands to a maximum 400 inside and 40 outside storage and shoves all your furniture in there (save for a couple of the outdoor items that just get placed in the yard). If you go to Social > Housing > Estate Settings > [choose an estate] > Storeroom Status, you want a green checkbox next to the indoor and outdoor furnishings section under Relocation Status.

I was coming here to type exactly what Dustytome did. If you have green checkmarks on the storeroom status interface then youre good to go. Moving a small is rarely an issue. Its usually more of a problem for people moving medium or large houses because they can end up with too many items between whats placed and whats stored. For those people, moving some things into inventory(be it personal or retainer) first is the answer(which ideally who would do before you log off the day before the housing goes live so you can move the house immediately to the plot you like rather then finding a good plot, going to your house, storing enough stuff to get your green checks, then teleporting back and hoping the plot is still open).

This is perfect, thank you. I didn't realize there was a system already in place to alleviate my anxiety about relocating lol.
