Had a copied factory run half full of people in all parties who were dcing or lagging so badly nothing was moving etc. I had to just leave because it was so bad even hitting sprint wouldn't activate it before it 'ran out' and went on cooldown.

That's odd. I haven't seen anyone lag nor have I been lagging at all today.
Oh I'm not blaming you for your input, but more we need a fundraiser for squeaky stress balls to throw at a wall because of the constant "companies won't ever fix anything and solutions get passed down to the consumer in the form of spending more" problems.Unfortunately you're probably right, but you are their customer, SE isn't. They can't exactly talk to your ISP and say "Hey excuse me would you mind not routing these people this way?". Your ISP is going to do what they want unless SE were to pay them otherwise. Maybe SE have some pull with NTT, but from what we've seen in the past, it suggests that they don't. They probably only pay NTT for Internet connectivity, not a say in how NTT runs their network.
Sadly this isn't an isolated experience. Back when the NA servers were on the east coast people still had similar problems, but that time it was Level3 instead of NTT. Sadly SE just don't control the infrastructure of the Internet.
I'm sorry that there is no simple solution. Changing ISP might give you a better route without the need for a VPN, but there's really no easy way to test that and as routing agreements are renewed/renegotiated things could change in the future anyway. The fact you don't have problems late at night suggests either the route you are taking is congested/over capacity or is simply being throttled at prime times.
I appreciate I've been absolutely zero help and I can only apologise for that, I just really wanted to help clarify why things are how they are.
Edit: Oh and naturally back when the servers were in Canada I also had massive packet loss problems somewhere around the middle of the US, halfway to the servers. Did anyone ask for packet loss where I used Rampart, and nothing happened until the buff expired? Yeah those were fun times...

It seems like it's affecting some people and not others, several friends of mine are experiencing the same problems of disconnections and 20 people queues as well while other people seem to be playing normally...It's odd.
Glad to know it's a game problem. I thought it was my internet, since I play on my phone's 4G.
I have been experiencing lags for 2 days now, though today was a little bit better.
FWIW, based on comparing notes with folks in my FC, everyone who had the terrible connection problems was on Comcast. Those of us not on Comcast—on Verizon or Qwest or CenturyLink or whatever—were all fine. Moreover, one who connected via a performance gaming VPN was fine through _that_ since they were coming out of a non-Comcast address on the other side of the VPN.
I suspect there's a boundary router between Comcast and NTT upstream from the servers that's gone haywire.
