Should I switch to other class when my MSQ progress prevents me from level up?

If you dont want to over-level that much then stop doing the roulettes. You clearly dont need the exp. And if the goal was primarily poetics tomes then theres another way to get those that will give you less surplus exp. Each time you run a duty for the first time(or help someone else with a first time clear) you get a chunk of bonus poetics tomes plus whatever the duty normally pays out. There are a ton of optional trials dungeons and raids available at level 50. Focus on your quests so you can advance into Ishgard, and when you need a break que up to run a first time dungeon. Or check the party finder either for groups trying to do the content on your "To Clear" list, or for people with a first time bonus of their own who you can help to get paid. Hell, put up your own PF group for some of the harder ones and people might find it and join to help you(and get paid). The big 100 quest block is a lot, but it looks like a lot more then it actually is before you do it. Looking back, i see a slow start and an increasingly fast finish. Before hand? I was dreading the whole experience.

Can confirm the 100 quests part. I am 54 today and will be 56 after the resets today and should be able to get to the last patch of quests before the expansion content. It goes by quickly barring a few quests where you need to go to three different cities to recruit X amount of people all a part of just 1 quest. The story has been superb though and I have been able to complete every bit of content I have unlocked so far outside of Coil. It doesn't seem like anyone wants to teach a new player how to complete it. When I quit years ago Coil was the hardest content in the game so I get it. I am hoping at 80 I can put a team together just to go back to clear it so I can see it.

So you can still find Coil parties from time to time. Most of the time(really almost all the time) these will be higher level players going back and doing the content unsynced. Almost all of them can actually be solo'd before level 80 by the right class, and a 2 or 3 person team can clear any of them as long as you know the insta-kill mechanics to avoid. People still go back to farm glamour pieces, to get Khloe credit, and often enough a new player will put up a PF group and get people volunteering to help with the fights in exchange for the new player bonus. If you go that route, just specify that you want to watch the cutscenes to make sure you get patient people helping. Only a few of the floors have long ones, but a couple of those long ones go over 5 minutes in length.

As for the 2.x patch line of quests(54 quests would put you close to the end of patch 2.3 im guessing), it certainly starts slowly. But by the time youve finished the Ramuh fight it really gets rolling and the momentum carries straight into the expansion.

I completed a normal quest when I got home and got 0 EXP for it. I was at like 0/850k or so. I then decided to try the next MSQ and as soon as we started fighting mobs I was getting EXP again. I guess that fixed it as I get exp for everything again and was able to get to 53 last night. I completed the first set of 19 quests after the ARR story is over out of the 100 or so needed to start the next expansion but I think I am going to be 60+ just from doing roulettes between quests by the time I get to the expansion content lol

Ah. I think I figured this out. Level 50 quests are considered ARR endgame content. A lot of those quests will not grant XP as a reward because the cap used to be 50 so there was no point of getting xp.

All of the 50+ quests offer something very minimal in EXP gains like 2k-4k per completion and like 1k gil. I was literally at 0/TOTALEXP until I went and completed another MSQ. Once I hit 50 it locked me at 0 exp doing any quest including job unlocks like RDM and normal turn in until the next MSQ was complete. The good news for me was the next MSQ was the first of the two MSQ Roulettes and I was able to hit the second right after which gave me level boosts.
