Used to be just gear advantage, now adding the random corruption into formula?
Blizzard the king has died, long live the king

Try that first then you can come back and tell us if gear should be matter in FF14 PvP. No thanks, current everyone on the same ground is fine.
This. When I was a new player to WoW, I thought I was terrible at PvP, tried to get the best gear I could afford. I'd easily get wrecked. Once I hit level cap and in a position to get good gear, suddenly I was much better at PvP. Turned out it was less about skill.

SW:TOR alleviated this more and didn't make it wholly unfair with an heirloom system that just made people OP in Wow PvP. But still kinda an issue.

GW2 was refreshing for PvP because gear didn't give me an advantage, how I allocate stats might, but it just boiled down to how skilled I was versus other players.

FFXIV took a leaf out of their book, and it is better for it, we can focus on tactics and skill rather than losing because we got a new player with lesser gear. PvP is different to PvE and not all principles translate well between them, so it's good SE treats PvP differently
