    Question about Pugilists damage...

Nothing serious or high level here, but more of a low level question.

I made a pugilist today. Got it to around level 13. I had the level 8 Fists as well as howling Talons, and all level relevant gear otherwise (Lol.) I didn't notice a big damage difference between the two. What I did notice though was my THM leve buddy almost 1 shotting everything before I had a chance to do my 6x2 damage or so. So my question is this, would the level 12 knuckles really make a big difference on my damage, or do THMs just do craploads of damage? I love the changes Pugilists received since the days of hitting 4 times in 1 second (still miss that beat down feeling though) but I just need this clarified since a lot has changed inbetween the time I cancelled my subscription and renewed it.

Upgrading your weapons to higher dmg/stats is always going to help your damage. That said, Thm do craploads of damage. An xp party that thrives with a THM, excels with two THM, might struggle to kill things effectively without one. THM is beefy.

THM is monster till his MP run out, then he dies.
You are going to be slower but more consistent.

Howling Talons won't really help until you're ~25. Beyond that, THMs are beastly.

Thms are in fact beastly, but another thing to note is you have none of your real DD skills, and on enemies with low HP and fights that don't last more then a minute, Thm will clearly dominate. However once you get to 50, and add in Lnc/Acr abilities, suddenly you start doing a lot more damage, compete with Thm, and over a long fight where MP becomes an issue for them, while you have Sucker Punch, you can at least tie, if not out damage them if played right.

THMs are spike damage. When I was soloing THM, I had to stop and regain MP. I'm currently leveling PGL and I just go nonstop.

At low levels yes a thm is going to make you look a bit weak but just wait till you're high level. In situations where that thm/blm is nothing but a dead smear under a mob you will be amazing. You'll pop invigorate, whizz in to stun your foe with shoulder tackle allowing you to wheel around him pulling off your combos the you'll see him miss as your featherfoot procs, you stun him with haymaker and then can hit him with yet another devastating combo. Monk is awesome, stick with it and you'll love the job.
