Almost everyone in EVERY instanced roulette I've been in today is getting MASSIVE Lag spikes. I thought it was just me but after switching between 2 different internet connections I was STILL having the same issues. I'm on Crystal Data Center on Zalera an NA server. I don't know what's going on but SE's instance servers are having some MAJOR problems.. PLEASE FIX THIS SE!! it's SO infuriating to have to hardcast EVERYTHING as an RDM because lag spikes are not allowing dualcast to make your spells instant.

Can confirm, also started experiencing this issue earlier today, and it's still on/off and not going away.

As I understand it, "NTT" is what they call a tier-1 internet provider, and xfinity piggybacks on their nodes when making some of their connections. Very recently, these Chicago, IL coming from NTT have been acting up, showing complete packet drops or otherwise doubling ping. I'm usually about 100ms, but today I was like 220ms, if the packet even makes it (at least 30% packet loss from what I've seen).

I'm east coast and apparently "forced" to route through them as I connect to the west-coast-based FFXIV servers, for example at 204.2.229.88 , which should be one of the ones at Aether datacenter.

PvP is laughable when it gets bad, with barely 10 seconds of real-time before it's a frozen slideshow, and maybe it'll catch up, or maybe it'll just full-disconnect you.

As I mentioned, normal for me was just under 100ms. Here is what i saw earlier from just a simple ping -- 206ms with half of them lost:

I've been having major connectivity issues along with rubber banding today to, and it has been ongoing for the last 8 hours now. My usual ping is ~53ms and no packet loss, but today I've been going from 53ms up to as high as 169ms along with up to 15~25% packet loss when doing a ping -t on the servers IP address. This is nothing to do with user settings, as I've already done numerous trouble shooting and FFXIV is the only network application having issues. I was hoping it would get better, but 8 hours later and still having issues along with nothing on SE's end even acknowledging it is an issue? The game is absolutely unplayable with this problem.

This sounds like the recurring NTT node problem. The only difference is that it's effecting more people tonight than usual. There are a couple post about it on Reddit currently.

Unfortunately from all research I've done and direct communication with my ISP and NTT there is very little you can do other than slap the VPN band-aid on it and hope it fixes the issue. NTT basically told me to F*** off because I'm not their customer and unfortunately there is nothing my ISP can do about it since it isn't on their side D: I share all of your pain since this has been an on and off issue for 2-3 years with NTT but I've tested the VPN on all 4 of our computers and it seems to resolve the latency and packet loss issues.

Thank you for the reply Acornbot.

If you have tried the standard troubleshooting and your connection is fine to the other Data Centers, you may be running into a routing issue along your way to the EU Server. Unfortunately, the troubleshooting we provide is unlikely to be effective if the issue stems from outside of your home network. In this case, I'd recommend contacting your ISP regarding the issue and making a report with them.
