I don't think any of it is false, I just think people read too much into it. Dec 21 2012, is just the winter solstice of 2012, which if anyone knows anything about the mayan calendar that is when it ends. It also marks the end of several other natural cycles which were also noted by the mayans, stars/planets moving across the sky and whatnot. The thing is, the cycles start over once they end, but all the doomsayers kinda ignore that.

The People making the Doomsday prediction and using the Mayan Calender as its source, and how they are using the information and ignoring the actual truth on what the Mayan Calender actually is.. That's the part that is False.

I get a kick whenever people bring this fact up. Or the fact that the calendar has reset numerous times. The Mayan people have predicted nothing more accurately than any other group. They used an astrological calendar, which, in and of itself, is a fairly simple observation.

If you want an even funnier kick just ask non-NA players what they think - the general answer is "the what in 2012?"

Actually they have. They mayan calendar does not require a leap year. But we modern westerners aren't afforded the luxury of having the room to all have a massive stone structure in our backyards just so that we can know what day of the year it is.

Interesting fact: the calendar (which are actually those pyramid looking buildings) causes a shadow to be cast on the ground. There are rocks placed on the ground around the temples that look like a serpent's head, during the solstice the tip of the shadow lines up directly with the serpent head. At which point they would celebrate by sacrificing the winners of a game that's much like basketball to their gods.

Also, If you really want to go off the deep end with 2012 conspiracy theories, look into Terrance McKenna's work on the subject. It's interesting stuff, whether or not you believe it.
