Most of the "meltdowns" on these forums are poorly-disguised trolls making dramatic exaggerations of otherwise legitimate concerns anyway.

I thought this thread has been a pretty good discussion and analysis of how the event was designed/executed, minus the people coming in to say "it's just a game, why do you enjoy this about it?"

The thing is Bert was the popular choice. Most people here think there was some election interference, because Astrid won on every server. Some people in the know (I can't divulge sources) think it was Garlean bots.

If they wanted to make it even then they should give:
Astrid - dalamud red
Rodrigault - pure white
Bert - lotus pink
