ZantetsukenEndgame LS on Ragnarok
Theres user friendly and then theres being completely incompetent. If you honestly think this is a matter of "user friendliness" you should stop playing and pick up GO-Fish in your spare time.
Give me a break, lol...
Yea, if there needs to be an Agressive icon, put it on the target rather than the mobs name, although id kinda prefer it gone completely. Wheres the fun of /poke'ing new mobs when you already know if its going to eats you or not.

I'm not a real big fan of the aggressive icon either. I've always thought it was more fun to try to explore and find out whether the monster aggros or not. I feel this just takes away that fun.

I guess an option to turn it off would be ok, but having some kind of aggro indicator is something that's been sorely missing from this game as well as FFXI. I'm sure some people consider it more exciting, but I for one get very annoyed when I run into aggro with no indication, especially in cases where other mobs of the family don't aggro and this one specific kind does.
Stuff like that seems to unfairly punish people trying to get into the game who might (logically) assume that there aren't mobs 10-20 levels higher than everything else in the zone wandering around waiting to tear them a new one for no apparent reason. I think this is counter to the stated goal to make the game easier to get into.

Im a big ffxi vet myself i say get rid of the agro dot all together New players need to learn as we did starting some monsters are not cool. all the agro dot does in my opinion is turned the game into a battle style petting zoo for noobs. wheres the challenge.

OMG I HAD TO HAVE AN UNPLEASANT EXPERIENCE WHEN I WAS A NEW PLAYER SO EVERYONE ELSE SHOULD HAVE AN UNPLEASANT EXPERIENCE, TOO!!
Please, get off your high horse. Making the game more user-friendly and accessible to newbies is nothing but a good thing. After all the negative attention FFXIV has gotten since launch, the last thing the game needs is to be scaring off potential customers with overly frustrating game mechanics that don't exist in other modern MMOs.
I'll agree that the indicator should probably be more subtle, as the current design is a little on the obnoxious side (personally, I like the idea of a red glow surrounding the enemy's name), but there does need to be something to indicate which mobs aggro and which ones don't.
Though I suppose an option to turn the indicator on and off wouldn't hurt, so long as it was turned on by default (after all, you can't expect a newbie to know that the option even exists, let alone that they would need to turn it on).

Run into a mob which aggros once, get killed, run into it the 2nd time, get killed and the 3rd time you'll avoid itOMG I HAD TO HAVE AN UNPLEASANT EXPERIENCE WHEN I WAS A NEW PLAYER SO EVERYONE ELSE SHOULD HAVE AN UNPLEASANT EXPERIENCE, TOO!!

Seriously Why?
Convenience isn't the answer to everything. Many players who got aggroed by mobs don't quit because of that, they learn from the experience. Learning from an experience is better than no experience, which is what an aggro indicator forces upon everyone: no experiences.OMG I HAD TO HAVE AN UNPLEASANT EXPERIENCE WHEN I WAS A NEW PLAYER SO EVERYONE ELSE SHOULD HAVE AN UNPLEASANT EXPERIENCE, TOO!!
