Suggestions for features come next expansion

My wish list for improvements/features for the game

For a lot of these I suspect now is not too early to be listing for the 2021 expansion, to give devs time to consider and start working towards implementing them.

1) DX12. We had DX9 and 11 overlapped for a while, I think they need to move forward with 11/12 (for PS4/PS5)

2) Spanish localization. Huge market there, why isn't it a reality yet? Do they think that market is less inclined to pay subs compared to, say, the German playerbase?

3) Partner with one of the reputable ping-reducing outfits and make available to Aus/NZ subscribers for free. Many Aussies I know already use one of these services, and the improvements, while minor are some help; and SE doing this would show them some love and attention.

4) Upgrade visual quality/polygons for some ARR NPC armor sets. It's not an ideal 1st impression for new players to be staring at, say, a lvl 5 Wood Wailer whose belt looks like it was crafted by an Opo-opo. I know they can't bring everything up to the quality of some of the more recent armor/glamour, but making a good impression on ppl new to the game is obviously of paramount importance (hence the reason for ARR/ARR+ compression coming in 5.3)

5) Insure the game catalogs what class(es) a character has cleared specific dungeons and raids with and ignore ilvl if they queue for a roulette with an ilvl currently set below the threshold for ones they have done before on that class with that character. Ilvl cheesing will otherwise continue to ruin the game for leveling players who need things like the Ivalice raid series etc.

Bonus with list item:
6) Add a feature where if player has a pc with abundance of processor cores, you can enable additional coding to improve hair dynamics/reduce clipping. Video drivers are already doing what they can in this regard. The rest of the game doesn't stress CPU's all that much or leverage very many cores. Putting something like cores 5/6 to work on getting hair that properly slides over shields and shoulderpads/etc will help visually, and the processor companies will also likely help and promote as that helps them sell more powerful processors.

I would be happy with an HD overhaul. World of Tanks have done it several times and PS3 support has been dropped. There's no need to keep all armor pieces at low res.

they would like to do spanish localization/voiceovers, but they can't find a partner willing to keep up with the constant amount of work the comes with doing the game at the speed/quality the devs demand.

They dropped PS3 support for FFXIV in 2017. It's time to stop making PS3 graphics now that the PS4 will be obsolete within this year.

It's thread on suggestions for the next expansion, I absolutely have the right to make the decision to offer a suggestion. And pointing out that PS3 graphics are out of the date isn't that scandalous.

Of course, but they are always on the lookout for ways to make the game look and run better and leveraging current multi-core CPU's is one approach that need not impact the game running on low end PC's

It's possible that if we ever get to a place where the shards re-merge with the source somehow they may do a major graphic and otherwise overhaul. If it happened, it would be a good spot story-wise for them to potentially jump to a new engine and re-work quite a bit. Debatable if that will happen, it may be cheaper for them to build out a whole new MMO from the ground up than do that, but that's where I'd put my money on it happening if it does.

As for my wishlist for next expansion...

1) I'd really, really, like to see more housing slots inside and outside. I get why it can be a loading issue, I really do, but it's frustrating when you have to pull things from your designs because you don't have the slots for what you want to achieve.

2) Related to above, I'd like to see an overhaul of housing in general. I understand what they were aiming for with the wards, and that at the time housing was implemented it wasn't possible to go as far as was desired, but I am almighty tired of seeing the constant whining and complaining about people who have multiple houses and housing shortages on some servers. I understand the irritation, but please at the very least can we get upgradeable apartments and indoor gardens or something?

3) Also housing related (I have a theme going here), I would kill for glamour sets for indoor and outdoor. For example, Urianger's house skin for outside, and an inside skin to make the interior what his house interior is. I would also kill for a slot to let you put down seasonal effects in your yard as a kind of yard skin. Snow, autumn leaves, spring blossoms, etc. Just have it blanket the whole yard. We can pretend we clean off the stuff in it.

4) Glamour wise, I'd like to see the gender locks removed. An often requested thing, especially lately, but still.

5) I'd like to see housing only functions (airships, submarines, gardening, etc.) be put out into the world at large for everyone to use. Set them up as chocobo stables at Bentbranch, A mine out by Black Brush, a greenhouse at the Botanist's guild, airships in Ishgard, submarines in Limsa, that sort of thing. It would be trivial to set up a house workshop to have a shortcut teleport to get to those places without having to travel to the location first. That would keep the workshop special without cutting people off from things.

6) Please, please, please, please can we have shared storage with our alts? Or the ability to mogmail them? Or something? I know back in the day that option was cut off to try and deal with RMT, but it's not phasing those guys at all, and it's extremely inconvenient getting items to alts otherwise.

That's the bulk of my wishlist.

Thats in the companion app iirc. Guess that won't come ingame as it would make the app function obsolete.


I'd love to see a graphics improvement too when PS5 support (likely?) is official. I honestly wouldn't mind, them breaking the patch cycle to work on that. Even if it means 6-9 months only tidbits of content.
