I reckon it's to do with his plan to "gorge" on Zodiark. Still wondering if his new friend has some connection to Elidibus and it's a coordinated plan. The outfit is a huge improvement.

When the game's story becomes self-aware:
I want a grand fight with Zenos as well, but I don't want to kill him. Just make him mortal once more and so he could purge for what he did. But I guess, more people want him to die once and for all.
Yet his Dissidia's outfit makes him very good(sexy) !
I wonder what crafting actions they gonna remove... there is like, not much left anyways? and all the demimateria will be gone as well... my god >_>
^ If the mosaic is not actually Hydaelyn but Ultima and it's from the relic questline, I'd be all for that!
On another note I'm glad to see Ryne and Thancred in parts of the trailer outside Eden. After they were absent from 5.1 I was worried Eden was being used as an excuse for them to sit out the MSQ. What's really interesting is at 2:25 in the trailer, when the Scions all manifest around Cid. I guess we find a way back to the Source in this patch.
Also yo the SAM's gear in the Eden gear picture is awesome.

Well, they've already done Ultima in the Ivalice raid. I think it is Hydaelyn, but inspired by Ultima in XII's design to some extent.
When the game's story becomes self-aware:
Well yeah but Ivalice is gonna be relevant again in the relic questline, since it requires completing Return to Ivalice to start it.
You're probably right that it's Hydaelyn though, but it's such a vastly different depiction from usual if it is her.

I thought it was vaguely similar to the art from Qitana Ravel:
Granted, this has a lot more detail.
The last time we saw any depictions of her outside of this was from the ARR CE art:
(incidentally, that does look like the High Seraph from Orbonne! Especially since the statue version of her has the halo)
So I'll grant that it does look a bit different to anything we've seen. It's both adequately similar and different to potentially be a misdirect. I'm placing my bets on it being a depiction of her.

When the game's story becomes self-aware:

Interesting take. IIRC, the red thing is meant to symbolise the clash between Zodiark and Hydaelyn which led to the Sundering. This looks more like an outfit or parts of her body, or even being held in the grips of something. You can see her bluish limbs/wings in the upper left and right.
I'd be down for that if only because of what an utter wildcard it would be.

When the game's story becomes self-aware:

First off, I'm so glad I'm not the only one who thought this. XD
Secondly;
Just conjecture, but this reminds me of ffxii espers. As we know, the ascians emet-selch, lahabrea, nabriales, etc, share the names of the light scions that are the opposites of zalera, mateus and cuchulainn respectively. Each of the named ascians share this fact, save for Elidibus, who represents Zodiark. The ascians even share the same sigils as the espers, most easily being seen in the Akadaemia Anyder dungeon (these sigils belonging to chaos, exodus and mateus). The last two, Ultima and Zodiark, are the espers of light and dark, them being opposites to each other. In ffxii, Zodiark's power was stunted (kept as a child) and he was sealed away, while Ultima was imprisoned in a giant crystal. In ffxiv, Zodiark was split into 14 shards and sealed in the moon, while Hydalyn basically IS a giant crystal.
My theory goes that Hydalyn can be likened to Ultima, and if our character really was one of the 14 ascian council members, then our character was the opposite of Elidibus, He being the ascian linked to Zodiark, while we were linked to Hydalyn/Ultima. Also, it's been stated by Emet that both Zodiark and Hydalyn are indeed primals. If this is the case, then does that mean that the echo could be likened to a primal 'blessing'? When our character summoned Hydalyn to oppose Zodiark, was our character tempered like the rest of the ascians were when they summoned Zodiark? Throughout A realm reborn's campaign, our character is often stated by the primals to be blessed by another. Ramuh states that our aura betrays us to be a servant of Hydalyn. Does the echo simply stop us from being tempered? Or is the blessing actually a type of tempering?
