I'm expecting that the Scions (plus Ryne) will be able to return (or visit, in Ryne's case) to the Source by the end of the MSQ, because that would be a possible explanation for why MSQ progression is required for the last fight of Eden's Verse. Ryne, Thancred, and Urianger are heavily involved in that, so having them acknowledge their new ability to go back to the Source is reasonable, as opposed to having a mini-time bubble just for that segment.

Having said that, I do wonder if this ability to go back to the Source is only temporary. That bit in the trailer with the Scions Plus Ryne popping into existence to protect Cid is a little odd, if the Scions were already physically present on the Source.

Not sure if its Source related or not. The main reason for that is probably Ryne, Thancred, and Urianger's involvement in the MSQ and them being "stumped' by something, until a revelation from the MSQ events. There are two big indicators s for this. One being that Yoshi-P stated the dungeon was later in the quest line. And two being that at least Urianger and Ryne are available as trusts for the dungeon, as they are both seen in the trailer.

Considering it's said in the trailer that the ancient people of Amaurot were able to store concepts, it may not actually be the real them we're summoning there. We'll have them returned to the Source yes, but we could also be summoning concepts (copies) of them that we ourselves have created.

Just wanted to throw my 2 cents in here. The pilot of ruby weapon is the raen girl and she will be like a newtype or artificial newtype from gundam, so she either has the echo or is resonant. She’s also probably from sui-no-sato in the ruby sea which is why it’s moniker is ruby weapon.

It's called Ruby Weapon because that is what the same mecha-like being is called in FFVII. The other main WEAPONS in FFVII are Sapphire weapon, Emerald weapon and Ultimate weapon...

We see the Rean woman and the Rean man talking to Giaus in some other screenshots. Given the normal Garlean attitude towards non-Garleans, I doubt those two are with Garlemald in particular. It would make more sense for them to be people Gaius knows of since he really does not care about what race or culture people are from so long as they can do their job right.

As it is, we don't even know if Ruby Weapon can be piloted like a mechanical can. The weird Ultima-like Weapon Estinean fought had someone grafted into it practically...

Did you not watch the 5.2 trailer? They literally show ruby being piloted by a female in red late Allagan gear, it’s clearly the female raen who wears red late allagan gear. Don’t forget Gaius piloted ultima weapon in the praetorium. On its name, I’m saying they will recontextualize the name of ruby weapon in XIV lore to be connected to the pilot who will be from the ruby sea. She clearly will have the echo or be resonant. Yoshida dropped a hint in a jp interview by saying the phrase newtype.

Not all Raen are from Sui no Sato, though. Plenty are from the Hingan Mainland.

On top of that, might you explain why she would have the Echo/Resonant? You don't need it to pilot the Weapons, see Gaius.

Also, I wonder whether Garlemald actually built those weapons or dug them up from Allag or something, like Ultima and Omega. In the case of the latter, it would've been called Ruby Weapon even before, invalidating the theory.

Interesting theory. Can it be related to the other weapons too. We know one will most likely be Emerald, we just aren't sure if the last one will be Diamond or Sapphire. Granted Diamond was fought in VII, but Diamons also has a presence in FFXV. Sapphire however, fits in well with Ruby and Emerald, and fits with the whole earth, air, and sea motif; Emerald being more aerial in appearance. But can we relate emerald and sapphire to things like ruby to Ruby Sea?

It could potentially be Julia and Annia who are doing the piloting. They had a red and blue motif with their overall designs. They also showed up in the Gaius/Estinien solo duty.

Nah, but Xie is right in a way. Compare the Au Ra from the Screenshot to the first seconds of the trailer, it's a much better fit than the armour of Julia/Annia - unless they went and changed, of course.
