    Speaking personally, I got to 60, and didn't do anything else. The spells I unlocked on the road weren't nearly enough to make me want to go for other, harder to get ones.

    The positive changes they've made are good, but for something that might see one patch every two years, they needed a few more "Wows" out the gate to get me back into it.

    I wished that the Aetherial Mimicry affected more spells so they'd have more benefits for roles. For example, Tank would remove the damage reduction penalty for Mighty Guard, shortened the casting time of Diamondback, or increase the the radius of Flying Frenzy. Healer would increase the range of Exuviation, decrease the cooldown of Angel Whisper, and change Transfusion from incapacitating the caster to reducing their Health and MP by 90% instead, which would leave just enough MP that they could Pom Cure themselves.

    For BLU I've a few casual ideas:

    Have certain Logos Actions (like Rapid Recast) be available as Blue Magic.

    Change the glamor rules so that they can glamor gear up to 20 levels above theirs (same applies for future limited jobs) but make sure they have a caster of the appropriate level first.

    More BLU canes, preferably dyable, as I mentioned on other threads

    Allow them to be used in Squadron dungeon missions

    Lastly a specialized DF Roulette for Bluemages that pair them with other BLUs

    I'm all for more canes, but for the DF they'd have to raise the Level Cap and nix the increased EXP we gain from world grinding or allow it for Blue Mages as of Level 1 for a Roulette to work. The main reason people do them is for experience and poetics. And rather than a BLU exclusive DF, I'd make it a Limited Job DF for future proofing.

    It turns out while you can enter Aquapolis as a Blue Mage, if you switch out of it you won't be able to turn back into a Blue Mage inside. I hope that this gets fixed so that you can. because there's not much of a reason to be able to enter into it as one if you can't swap in and out unless it was an oversight. An oversight I appreciate, but one nonetheless.

    Also note that a good portion, if not all the enemies are immune to Deep Freeze and Instant Kills. No cheesing there.

    I came up with an idea for how they could do something like Palace of the Dead. Instead of having the players unlock spells as they go along, have them pick a set of predetermined spells every 5-10 floors (with White Wind and Diamondback being mandatory). As long as there's at least 1 Astral, Umbral, and Physical spell for a set of single target and a set of AoEs, that would cover damage. As for the rest, they can be the utility spells like Acorn Bomb.

    That being said, I would have them select a role so their selection would allow for exclusive options like Angel's Whisper (Healer) and Cactguard (Tank) and Moon Flute (DPS).

    [Please pardon the rant, feel free to skip this post]

    The whole class makes me incredibly depressed to see it like this and know that it'll never actually be allowed to do stuff like a real boy--no duty finders unless you've got other BLUs at gunpoint or people willing to actively waste their time, and exclusively to completely barren outdated content with no reward other than the skills themselves, and once capped and done you get... more weekly tomestones?

    With the Devs saying it's horribly OP as to why they won't, despite there only being a few outliers that could pretty simply be balanced down to match regular classes or aren't nearly as strong as they're talked up to be in the first place ("instant death is so strong!" everything is immune, "it's debuffs are so powerful!" three times a fight with extreme diminishing returns and then they're completely immune, "they do so much damage!" on two skills that instantly kill you and otherwise have terrible damage everywhere without elemental weaknesses in play, so only the carnivale and maybe-possibly eureka). another excuse being "but without certain actions people would bar them from content!"--when the class already has a mechanic that makes acquiring specific skills mandatory to advance the class quests, and those "certain actions" could easily just be included in that umbrella (or not allowing "real" content until you've filled the book or completed the class quests to prove you can handle the unorthodox class)

    No squadrons, no deep dungeons (maybe in a few years), no eureka (maybe in a few years), never ever pvp, no relevant content (will always be several expacs behind), no roulettes, no playing with real classes unless they specifically bend over backwards to accommodate you with basically no incentives. it basically doesn't exist, but since the BLU icon is now technically present in game, the devs can point to it and go "what do you mean you want a playable blue mage? it's right there!"

    It hurts to see my favorite class and not really ever be able to play it.

    Well, I can't say you're wrong. While there are discords and linkshells willing to help out other BLUs, its a very slender number of players who'll go out of their way for it considering the sheer number of other classes. And while I do want more content for it and feel they are under-representing the class, I give the developers a lot of leeway because they didn't have to add it, I believe they'll keep refining it in the future, and I believe players should be able to make their own fun with it as well.

    Even with all the problems its had, I am still grateful its in the game and have faith that one day I'll be able to play through New Game+ as the class.

    That being said, they give it the same treatment as Scholar and Astro in ShB and I'll be the one ranting here next.

    I levelled blu up to 60 this week...and I've run into several issues that upon disovering this thread I feel is appropraite to share

    1. It requires a party for most of its stuff. Its billed as a solo job. This is unnacceptable
    2. Most spells are clones. I understand why but we don't need that many variations of cone attack cluttering the log.
    3. Speaking of spells...if blue is supposed to be overpowered, why the hell is it a chore to kill enemies without the % damage attacks? Far too many 200/210/220 potency spells that scale very badly.
    4. Status effect spells are immuned too much or don't last enough to make a difference
    5. Some more unique spells are implemented badly. Loom has a cast timer, off guard got nerfed into the ground to be a ranged trick attack which can't be seen without a parser. Self destruct got brush with death even in overworld against no mobs.
    6. Elements have no bearing on standard mobs. I get why, but a non elemental spell that's basic damage can fix this, or a blue ability that ignores elemental attunement for X seconds.
    7. Hardly any canes
    8. Most of the rarer and hard ot obtain spells are basically naff. Titan's table flip for example does earth and blunt...which makes it useless in a lot of fights in the grand carnival.
    9. Healing is lackluster without white wind or pom cure when its supposed to be relatively strong to self sustain
    10. There's no indication of how each spell is fired without using it. This makes it trickier to complete certain Carnival challenges without good memory.
