Speculation/Discussion on the 5.2 dungeon: Anamnesis Anyder

As we had a fun discussion about the Grand Cosmos last time, I figured I'd make another thread regarding Anamnesis Anyder, especially as the 5.2 site just updated.

"Deep in the Tempest─deeper still than the phantom Amaurot of Emet-Selch's design─lies what remains of Anyder's ancient edifices. What slumbers forgotten in this bed of knowledge, even the Ondo know not..."

So for starters, what does Anamnesis mean? It can mean a medical record, but considering XIV it's going to be under this meaning
"The remembering of things from a supposed previous existence (often used with reference to Platonic philosophy)."

So considering where our MSQ is going, we may be heading down here to solve an upcoming conflict. Which is interesting because we've already been through this dungeon in Akademia Anyder in the more familiar Amaurot. Considering our MSQ basically ended on a cliffhanger in Eulmore (Located just near the Tempests) my guess is we'll be going through here to find someone not only relating to Emet but to also in some way stop Elidibus(considering it's involving the Ascians). Though they could also throw us a fast one and also make this a side quest related dungeon akin to Hell's Lid or Saint Mocciane's.

Our first image we got shows what I assumed the opening of the dungeon will look like, but the recent 5.2 images (Can't screencap currently), show the place as much more ancient. A more natural rocky look referring to this being in the past with bits and pieces of the Art Deco motif showing.

    Thoughts and opinions?

My prediction is Doppelander is sent by Elidibus to tell us about a crucial truth hidden in the dungeon.. Maybe.. probably.. about our past.

From the sounds of it, this structure/dungeon is one of the few remaining building back from when the star was split in to the Shards. I imagine that we are going to learn either more about the Ascians true nature pre-Zodiark, or possibly more hintings or maybe even conclusive evidence that our character is the 14th member of the Convocation.

Calling it now, we're gonna inadvertently unleash the Weapons in there. They'll fly off into the Empty and someone will be all like "we'll keep an eye out and tell you if/when they decide to annoy civilization".

No, the weapons are happening back on the source. They hinted at them a patch or two ago. Gaius and Estinien were raiding the imperial palace. After they got separated, Gaius is said to have noticed that some experimental weapons were missing from the capital. Also, if you look at the special site for patch 5.2 it shows that the content is somehow split between the source and the first. The new Eden raid and the dungeon OP is referencing are on the first side of the split, while "The Sorrow of Werlyt" is on the source side. The description for Sorrow is...
The Garlean Empire seeks to break the stalemate with Eorzean forces by unleashing the culmination of its twisted experimentation─a brutal warmachina that exists only to destroy. On both sides of the battlefield, shadows of the past loom large as the decisive clash draws ever closer.
And the included screenshots show what seems to be Ruby.

As for Anamnesis, im guessing that the guy who looks a bit like Ardbert(and who previous cutscenes have indicated might be from another shard - possibly sent after us by Elidibus for some plan) either sends us there or we follow him there to learn some deep truths about Zodiark and Hydaelyn.

So it finally hit me where that cyclops enemy shown as one of the dungeon bosses is from. I knew it looked familiar, and I was right:

Looks like another creation magic summon like Quetzacoatl perhaps?

We've already had plenty of cyclops-type enemies throughout the game though before which don't look too different to that (the second boss of Aurum Vale, Coincounter, is a cyclops for instance). They're generally classed as voidsent or regarded as a more powerful and dangerous gigas type. I doubt this one is specifically meant to represent FFT's summon, but I guess we'll see.

Oh no, it definitely is FFT's Cyclops specifically. There is no doubting that once you look at it. It just is such an obscure summon that most people won't notice it, and I myself had to rack my brain where I had seen it before. Weigraf would be disappointed.

Oh, you're right, I admit I was not comparing the images directly but relying on mushy memory. Yeah it's definetely based on the FFT summon, I'm pleased to say I stand corrected.

For sure the model is based on that, good catch. But this being an amaurotine dungeon, i wonder if hes just the "first" cyclops and the varieties that weve seen are more or less descended from him or if hes more like quetze and is a one off.
