Hmmm, but unless it's changed quite a bit, don't the different minions/rarer minions have power/stats that vastly outweigh other, basic minions? I mean, I know there's resource cost and time to build, basically, but without having access to the better minions then it's more than being about skill isn't it? :P

Minions do have vastly different stats and ability sets, but stat distribution is pretty zero sum. It isn't quite like triple triad where some cards are literally on a higher power level. I can't really think of any case where a particular minion has outright more stats than another. Different distributions? Yeah. One outweighing another outright? Nah. Some turn out better for actual pvp, but that's more of an emergent interaction between their statline and the metagame.

And it's actually the opposite. All the meta ones are free or easy to acquire, all the rare or real money acquired ones are garbage. Whether this was a deliberate decision or just plain luck I can't say, but it's what is the case so far.

I left other games with PVP systems like this for the very same reason. Fun with skills? Interesting jobs? Nooo, if you're not min maxing the strongest job to curb stomp new players what are you even doing???

Lol but too bad everyone in ff14 gets synced up and down to a specific item lvl so only clearing item lvl req for max stats is all you have to do. And that isn't even in the game anymore now everyone is synced to the same stats lol.

It wouldn't matter if I specifically played as ninja not to mention if you stealth and then attack you basically missed your opener.
Nin has to shuriken then stealth and trick attack to work around down speed buff down time.
So all in all nin is going to have to make some sort of engagement prior to initializing the trick attack.
Its not so much a type of pvp as a compartmentalized area exclusive to pvp encounters. (People obviously don't play enough pvp how classes work fundamentally)
Trash sellable mats, random knots, minions, things removed from the game at one point.
All things you could potentially find in coffers or out doing marks and stuff in this kind of zone.
Promise of pvp and a chance at retaining your prizes.
Fairly simple nothing too flashy, just a space lol.

Yeah.... you can keep dream on, but there are so many flaws in your idea. If the reward is not attractive enough, no one would go after a month. If reward is too attractive to PvE , you can expect Ninja to be nerf to the ground and you won’t be able to enjoy that little gambling fun of your. Have you never learned? Never use reward to bait PvE into PvP
