Well, let me introduce you to the wonderful content called Lord of Verminion. As it is, it's the activity with the highest execution barrier and skill ceiling in the game. This should be right up your alley, what better setting to prove how much of a badass you are? Unfortunately, it's 1v1 content so you can't team up, but I'm sure a PvP chad like you doesn't need to hide behind their friends. If there's a player on another server talking shit (like me right now), you can just roll right up and put them in their place, no rng, no matchmaking, no excuses. Isn't that exciting, this is what gets you people off right? This content has all of that and more.

As you can see, an open world zone like this already exists, it's called the Gold Saucer. With the addition of that new 'The Slice is Right' gate, it now contains both the hardest PvE and PvP content in the game. So, what are you waiting for? This is the no-holds-barred, endgame zone of your dreams.
ok but didnt ask, you literally don't stfu about lords of verminion in this section if you wanna play it, go play it and shitpost on their boards lol.

On that note, the open world pvp community as a whole is actually usually above the average age for players on games because it's a style of MMORPG PvP many of us grew up with, as opposed to people who started MMOs in like the last decade.

Hmmm, but unless it's changed quite a bit, don't the different minions/rarer minions have power/stats that vastly outweigh other, basic minions? I mean, I know there's resource cost and time to build, basically, but without having access to the better minions then it's more than being about skill isn't it? :P

As for the Slice is Right being the hardest PVE content? Mmmm, Reginald, I disagree!

Ah I see, you thought I was joking, but you're misunderstanding something critical. Everything I said about lord of verminion is true, which makes it completely relevant to the discussion. Isn't that what PvP is about? The rush of going up against someone and besting them. Everything you seek in a mode like that, it can provide.

It is player vs player content, the most difficult player vs player content, so if anything I have more right to post here than you do. Remember that the next time you dismiss the opinion of some frontline player because feast is the hardcore mode or something, that's what I think about you too because that's what things look like from up here, I get it.

To prove it, I can offer anyone here a simple wager. Come to my server (or I can come over to yours I guess) and beat me once, just once, and I will never bring it up here again, because you would've proved I'm full of hot air. That's how PvP works, no feast player will give you a bargain like this, but I will, because I'm not 'shitposting' when I say it has a higher skill ceiling.

That's not even the point of my post anyway, which is that an open world zone like that has zero place in this game. But you guys already know as well as I do why, combat is shallow, dueling balance is nonexistent, all the flaws in the present PvP system would be there as well. And of course the toxicity. I'm not budging on my outlook on the mode's demographic. I am right about the character types it attracts am I not? Come on, I know you guys are out there. If you've grown up with it, now it's time to grow out of it.

I love world PvP and I'm definitely no young buck to PvP, although there's good feedback in this thread recognizing the threat established pvpers represent to balanced PvP content. The solution is to have randomized teams, very simple. You enter the zone (a la, Eureka), you're assigned to a team, and you can participate. No queue stacking. Penalties for leaving and rejoining to prevent people from trying to get on the same team. Share the instance across the DC even, to really increase player count.

Simply create 'pve' incentives and content ie: rare gathering resources, rare maps, unique equipment, etc. And you have plenty of motivation to participate as a party or solo. Plenty of reward, plenty of risk. Such a system would be purely opt in and couldn't be a detriment to anyone who didn't want to participate if introduced correctly.

I think he is just using a lot of fancy words to sugar-coating the word "naive"

I understand he is not asking for "World-PvP" directly but here is the obstacles:

If no PvE "rare" rewards, no one will go = dead zone and wasting resource
If there is PvE "rare" rewards, everyone wants go = premade Alliance
Did we all forgot what happened when PvE meet PvP and PvP community got out numbered?
Clown fest of putting everyone on free lance so PvE can farm better
This idea will not works and it is dead before it can born

Not to mention these "rare" rewards may attract the wrong audiences: gil farmer bots
Those veterans know how deadly and precise these PvP bots can be.

If this ever happen, I am expecting pages of drama here and main discussion forum

    Traditionally pvp had no rewards.
You're calling someone naive when you clearly didn't play WoW the first 3 months of launch.
I did I was 12, all day long, skeletons covered searing George, desolace, arathi, tara, these were all places which housed end game content and well as rare resources.

PvP is suppose to be competitive, things are suppose to have exclusivity behind them.
What they did to pvp after 2.0-3.0 when they did the rework in stormblood was horrid first off.
Second, if you don't like a pvp zone don't enter em lol.

Fighting each other is fun, competition is okay.

Y'all say so many dumb things but not one valid reason for there to be an optional pvp zone to enter lol.

I would like this, but only if the story is Eureka levels of important, and by that I mean entirely skippable.

I'd play for as long as I could withstand getting ganked or my full party of WHM/DNC being destroyed, and it would hurt a lot less to miss a story that was "eh" from the start.

Yeah it doesn't have to be the MSQ or even a standard by any means it would just be niche option for everyone to have.
Not even saying per world or xpac zone.

I changed from a highlander to Hyur so to clipping issues btw lol.

I mean if they wanna comment about open world pvp or reference it that's okay you don't gotta become all unhinged about it lol.

I specifically just mean a "wilderness" as in a zone we can free go to and from for rare mats or special hunt monsters with the possibility of player verse player encounters.

Not the entire world open pk it doesn't really match the game.

The ranked and the feast modes are all regulated pvp bouts so like, what I am referring to is a place that's new to the world like just a large open zone or forest or desert or something that we could walk to or maybe have a (safe zone with a port inside or outside of the entrance).
Where players could go off in every which way lol.
