    Ground targeting

    Can we make the ground targeting in this game not god awful? Using sacred soil feels like such a crap shoot because it doesn't go off half the time. Any offensive ground targets also basically require a macro because nobody wants to go through the headache of placing it down manually by having to click the ground where you want it to go. I swear at points it takes me 5+ clicks for the game to register I'm placing something down, it's aggravating, I basically have to spend an entire weave window on a single oGCD and that isn't even always a guarantee I won't clip. Can we add smart targeting, or at the very least, make ground targeting more responsive?

    My goal isn't to make the game "dumber to play" It's to make it more convenient. I'm glad you haven't run into the issue, but while progging TEA I can't count the amount of times I click down on the area for sacred soil and it just refuses to go off, smart cast has been a standard in games for years now, the biggest example I can think of is league of legends, and that doesn't make the game "dumber" it makes it more convenient you don't have to spend that extra second to click where your ability is going to go and that's all I'm asking for.

    Hmm, I wonder how smart cast in a 3rd person perspective would play out. It works great for league because it's always an isometric camera view. I'd imagine it would be quite finicky with our cameras?

    I wish there was an option like SWTOR had for ground target abilities...you could just double tap your hotkey for them and they'd place them centered on your current target...which I used 99% of the time because all the enemies I wanted to hit were always within that circle (if it was a ground target AoE damage ability for instance).

    The game only registers a mouse click for an AoE if you press and release at the exact same spot. This makes it particularly hard to place Sacred Soil or similar while moving, since you're often unconsciously moving the mouse to account for camera motion. It's just plain a piece of bad UI code. Understanding the quirk helps to place things consistently, but it's still bad.

    WoW allows smartcasting like this and it works perfectly. I can't even count the number of times that I saved pulls with a split second spirit link totem. XIV feels very painful in comparison.

    Thanks for the response! Haven't played wow in many, many years so I couldn't remember. I'm not against the concept in any way shape or form, for the record. Anything that can improve FFXIV inputs (be it gameplay or menu) I'm for.
