I've been wondering what people prefer when it comes to mashing out their rotations. I'm used to all 3 myself but I see some debates over which people feel is better for performance.

I used to do everything by clicking (ex runescaper) when I first started playing, but after doing a lot of PvP competitively, I made the switch to keybinds. It took a lot to get used too, but it made me a far better player, it freed up my mouse so I can use it more for movement, and freed up my eyes, as I no longer had to look at where to click for my abilities on my bars.
I still click on my bars to the side of my screen that have my mounts, jobs and emotes, though.
I’ve always played on controller. I’ve never been a huge PC gamer, and most of the games I’ve played have been on home consoles or handhelds; so controller feels more natural to me. In FFXIV, I have auxiliary hotbars that I click with my mouse (things like mounts, favorite minions, food, waymarks, frequently accessed menu buttons), but the majority of my gaming is done on a controller despite playing on PC. I started FFXIV on the PS3, so I just carried it over to PC when I migrated over—tried learning KB+M and decided it wasn’t worth the time when I could just stay on controller.
I do keep one hotbar that is mapped to my Numpad—and I am able to utilize it alongside my controller without it affecting performance. Mostly, I keep miscellaneous skills on the Numpad hotbar (e.g., AST sects are on it, the tank stances, miscellaneous macros like my MT/OT Nature’s Minne macros), and things like pots/infusions/tinctures.

MMO mouse with keyboard modifiers for extra bars. Allows me the freedom to move in any direction without impeding my actions.
I use a combination of input from a Razer orbweaver for D pad movement + 1st row hotkeys and clicking + thumb buttons on a programmable Logitech MMO mouse.
In FFXIV, I switched from keyboard to gamepad after having a hard time dodging landslides in Navel (normal). I still use a mouse as a supplement from time to time (like when dropping ground AOE), or when interacting with menus. And, of course, keyboard is still used for typing. So, all 3 are used (primarily gamepad, with mouse and keyboard as supplements).
In WoW and SWTOR, I use keyboard primarily, though it still gets annoying sometimes to dodge stuff. I tried the controller addon in WoW and it's not good for me. I supplement with mouse for those extra action buttons that appear from time to time.
I use a combination of keybinds and clicks. It's impossible for me to bind everything so some stuff has to be clicked. I can't use a gaming mouse or keyboard due to health reasons so I'm stuck with what I have, but I can make it work![]()
Controller. I have a keyboard and mouse hooked up to my PS4 for communicating, but in combat, controller all the way.
Generally, I use a combination of gaming mouse buttons for commonly/frequently used skills and clicking for seldom used skills or those on really long cooldowns. I've never really been a big enough PC gamer to get used to doing things on full keybind. I use WASD for movement but that's about it for keyboard.
I've been Controller (DS3 > Xbone > DS4) since binding coil. It's all down to your preference and how much time you wanna put in (Re-learning takes time, I mean). It feels more comfortable for me.
In the brief period (Omega Alphascape) that I did try Keyboard and Mouse on FFXIV, I could only stand to use a 12-button (Naga,Scimitar, etc).
Then even within groups of input, like above, some keyboard players use 12button mice, some use orbweaver systems, and then controller players some use WXHB, some use Combination L2/R2 for different hotbars.
