I make up jumping puzzles wherever I go just for fun. Those little posts in the water outside the Twin Adder barracks are a good place to stand around waiting for a queue.

If I ever get a large house, I intend to turn the basement into a jumping puzzle just for kicks. I have no idea how, but I'll figure it out.

Pre launch there was a lot of discussion on weather or not jumping should be brought in or not. A crap-ton of people coming from FFXI (most) did not want as FFXI didn't have it. In 11 we all had to walk 10 yalms around a ilm cliff and we liked it!! 14 should of course do the same.

Jumping is my primary source of communication with other party members.

Hardly ever. My FC criticizes my tank play telling me jumping during the pull increases aggro generation, and every good tank should be doing it, lol. I guess I'm not meant to be a tank main.

However, my jump rate increases exponentially when playing NIN. Now if only we can shukuchi onto elevated ledges...

For getting across terrain, I jump a lot.

As some others have said, it also works as a universal "acknowledgement" emote. It can be "thankyou", "I'm ready", "we did it!", "come this way" or anything that would be assumed in the context.

(I still remember playing the game Journey where your only way of communicating with your companion player was to jump or chime at them. It worked quite well.)

The occasional people who just jump all the time in dungeons here make me dizzy though. It's very off-putting seeing that constant motion in the corner of the screen.

I loved the fact that you could only communicate in Journey by jumping and chiming. Worked wonders. Beautiful game

    While mounted, almost constantly.

Otherwise, not that much unless it's actually necessary.

You actually can in some places. People were using to "cheat" at getting up the tower in the summer event.

Honestly I feel like it's a controller vs. keyboard thing. If I was using a keyboard, I'd probably only jump when necessary, like to get up a ledge or take a shortcut.

On controller though? I pretty much just jump all the time. It's just so easy. lol
