    Suggestion: Free Company Housing Wards

This idea grew from the issue on how hard it is to get a house or get a larger plot. This suggestion would take a lot of work, but could hopefully allow more players to get houses.

Suggestion: Add wards for only Free Companies. A Free Company can unlock a ward dedicated to only their Free Company. They can lock it to keep people out or leave it open for anyone to visit. Any Free Company wards could be located in any of the city states we currently have in game (New Gridania, Limsa Lominsa, Ul'dah, or Kugane).

Ward Layout: The layout could be similar to the current wards. Or a different ward could be created for Free Companies.

Free Company House: A special plot, located in the middle of the ward, would start off as a small house on a large plot. As the Free Company grows, they can work to upgrade the house to medium or large or bigger.

Free Company members would be able to pick a plot in that ward to build their homes.

Initially, it would a small ward, but as the Free Company grows, advances, and gets more members, they would be able to unlock a sub-ward (similar to plots 31-60 we currently have). All these unlocks would be expensive, but for large Free Companies, it would give them something to work towards. Additionally, another perk could be to lower the cost of plots within the Free Company wards.

How will this help with the Housing issue in FF:XIV? Players would only be allowed to have a house in the normal wards or the Free Company wards. This would force players to decide if they want to live with their Free Company or take up plots for everyone else.

What would you do if you left your Free Company? Would you lose your house? Would you lose your house if you are gone for too long without logging in?

The player will have to relocate out of the Free Company ward or demolish their house prior to leaving their Free Company. If they tried to leave without relocating or demotion of their house, a message will alert them that they must first deal with their house.

For players who don't log in for an extend period of time? This is a tougher answer. Free Company leadership could trolls members who move into their wards by kicking them and the player would lose their house. Or if the Free Company is disbanded, the players could lose their houses. Therefore, for members who are going to be kicked, a message will be sent to the player that their Free Company is removing them and their house is in that ward. It will give them 60 days to relocate or demolish the house. This can also be used for player inactivity, for large Free Companies that need the plots and have inactive members.

For those who are inactive, putting their house/decorations into a 'holding area' similar to what there currently is.

Hopefully, with this idea, it will make more plots available to players who aren't in a Free Company or those who want to move.

Some other things this could allow: Free Company leaders could place decorations (like market boards, etc) around the Free Company wards. Granted this would be tied to unlocks the Free Company would need to unlock.

There would just be too many resources tied up for something like this. Each FC ward would have to be capable of providing up to 512 houses to cover the maximum number of members.

I kind of like it, big shiny house with leader in it, surrounded by supporting little guys...it's very Godfatherish.

But, some people put a lot into their house, yards, decorating etc... To know that if things don't work out in the company they are in or they simply found a better one, could mean losing their house, it might take a lot of the fun out of actually owning one.

Perhaps if houses had a save button, "backup current settings" moving around might be easier, and more people would be on board.

    An interesting idea nonetheless.

I don't see why they can't just pop up like a Island in ishgard with fc buy a island and the islands could just be copy paste of each other with 300 or so plots split into tiers like N E W S tiers. Or use the au'ra wild lands to create fc rent areas where they buy large areas such as islands, dungons, caves, Maybe even under water zones and allow them to create the space. Or at the very least create Fc island and wild lands and make it just fc housing only and give out free transfer to fcs to move there for 9 weeks after its put out. Moving fcs to their own housing zones would open up alot of plots for everyone so fc wouldnt have to make anyways.
