FFXIV video card over heating issue.

FFXIV runs my video card really hot. I have a Geforce GTX 570.

It runs at 80 degrees C, which is almost twice as hot as any other game I have. That seems really high almost to the point where it can damage the card. Other games like WoW on Ultra settings and FFXI both run the card at 40 degrees C.

Is it just me or does this happen to everyone? I don't really like playing FFXIV for an extended period of time because I think it could burn out the card.

Depending on how high of settings you are running FFXIV 80c is not all that high, and you can relax as that temp is not near damaging to your card. WoW and FFXI are poor comparisons to make for graphics loads as they are anywhere near as graphic intensive as FFXIV, Rift, Rage etc... If you want to drop your temps though go in game options and set the FPS to 30 down from 60. You can also lower in the Config app other settings such as shadows to bring it down even more.

Ever since patch 1.20 I have to play with a Honeywell HT-900 fan on one side of my laptop. All my settings are on the lowest, and I can still hit 94°C (with the honeywell fan at max speed) when I'm in Uldah.
I think this is a bit ridiculous.

49 C here with a self mounted zalman cooler lol.. standard coolers suck and have to be replaced asap, before 90C was normal here too.

I would definitely look into additional ways to dissipate heat, if you have a laptop a cooling pad is an option. If you have a desktop, I would suggest a larger case to allow for lower ambient temperatures, and faster heat dissipation. Right now my current rig is a full size ATX tower with 7 fans, including 1 side mounted 200mm fan. My card rarely spikes over 60 on the highest FFXIV settings... I've got a dual fan GPU by MSI, the AMD Radeon HD 6900 Series. Not the best by far, but a pretty solid card.

As a side note, FFXIV is really power hungry atm and sucks a lot out of your system. If you have a laptop you really don't have as many options to reduce heat since everything is designed to be as compact as possible. Maybe people will have better suggestions for that other than "get a cooling pad" lol

Laptop+FF XIV.. non a good couple.

You lack dissipation, and Mobile GPU probably Work at maximum to run FFXIV
