If you didn't like the damn game, then why did you play it?! Like I say, and what amounts to that final statement, is FFXI had its fans, and WoW had theirs. Suck it up and face the fact that there were people who actually preferred what FFXI had to offer.This. And he put it in a much nicer way than I would have.
OP is wearing pink nostalgia goggles. "Struggle" is something I see enough of in real life that I don't need more of it in a game I'm paying to play. I just want to work towards something and get it within a reasonable amount of time. FFXI was the antithesis of that way of thinking pre-Abyssea.
This was not really needed. If it hadn't been WoW, it would have been another MMO, but someone was bound to change the standard by which MMORPGs were designed. That and WoW has more challenging fights than FFXI ever did. So no, U.
