I wouldn't compare FF14 with FF11, talking about dificulty, content etc, when FF14 is not even finished yet. I understand the nostalgia and even feel it too sometimes, but you can't just compare an unfinished game with a finished one and with many expansions running for years. Yes, FF14 failed at launch. Yes, it still fails at some aspects and has a lot to do still. But Yoshi-P could easily have closed all servers and redo the game and open again for 2.0. But he left servers open and running, started to charge a monthly fee which isn't even the one planned, so we could still be here while he fixes everything. He even listens to the community when things are not working as planned or should be changed.
In my opinion, things are now as they are (easy, not much time needed etc) so we can enjoy on a short run what there is to offer, have some easy fun, don't break our heads with 18man battles, until everything is done for 2.0.
Once the new game is out, then we might be able to compare it with another finished game, and once it has been out for years, with the likes. Until then, you have nostalgia? I have it too, I spent amazing years back in Vanadiel, and if a conversation comes up, I will always remember my newb days running from the orcs and getting killed by a ram on the way to Valkurm. But I will give this one a chance, and start comparing once it's finished.
