Ooohh I found your problem by checking your lodestone profile. It seems you have a lack of completion of any remotely difficult content, a common problem. No mog... No Cutters Cry.

I'm not saying the game is super hard. I am saying your opinion as an uninformed one and you seem to think time sink = difficulty.

I've remade my chars(2) over and over ever time I leave and come back after what I believe will be a significant patch. That doesn't mean I don't have experience in things, it means that on the 1 char your seeing on the lodestone I don't show much. Yeah I played from beta on, pre-ordered CE and played from it's launch date, but I quit after 2 months because it was garbage and not shaping up fast enough for me to waste more time on it in that state.
After a number of patches I returned, think it was for the one that introduced the much needed auto-attack. I started over from scratch but XI was still my primary time sink and this still didn't warrant a change. Que > quit > return in 3 months > restart.
All told ~8 months play time yet not 1 50job, not 1 significant Dungeon, and few achievements, and if/when I get sick of some of the broken mechanics present now I'll quit again and return after yet another patch to start over again.

Oh, i went 1/1 on each Maat fight btw. I was suprised you stated that as a difficulty in ffxi. Good luck in the future.

Really, how long did you sit outside Jeuno spamming for skillups? Scripted or did you actually do it yourself? The first time I ran for Maat (~2004) it was a pure massacre and I can't remember anyone back then or up until Aby that can say they didn't get raped their first time through. Well can say it, but really ...

The simple fact in all of this is that most people share the opinion that this game is still very weak-sauce, it is improving, and needs to continue to improve, we all seem to agree on that so why are we all attacking each other and ranting?

WoW set a standard by attracting 9~12 year olds, that were super impressionable and imprinted on WoW like a bird just coming out of it's shell. I say this not to be a dick but because a friend 9yr old had ~15 friends in school that played w/ all their friends and she refused to let him play. Seriously whole servers of pre-teens ...
FFXI was for adults, FFXIV tried (and failed) to combine grindcore players with softcore players.
I miss my menus, I want to have all 6 elements at my disposal on BLM both single target and AoE for each that are useful. I want to have 22 WSs on DD jobs. I want to have 90 spells at my disposal if I'm on a mage job. The reason WoW and it's clones have such limited numbers of skills is because children struggle to remember that the ones they can't see in from of them are still there.

Before anyone rants about my exp. Yes I've played WoW, Rift, LotR, Lineage2, Beta'd GW, STO, and quite obviously FFXI and FFXIV. This is the only thought non-team-skill(meaning my skills open weaknesses for yours, skillchains, magic bursts, etc.), action bar, mash 1~= and you WILL win (seriously even should you die you get back up and still win) more often than not game that I continue to play, because I believe it has potential and I'll always give SE a fair shake, since somewhere ~1995/6 when I played Mystic Quest which was simply atrocious.

I don't remember even getting 1 full set of AF in XI in a day, and if you were doing it when it was level appropriate it took a full party to farm keys ...
