    My system is:
    Asus Sabertooth p67
    Core i5 2500k @4.8ghz
    MSI GTX680
    8GB DDR

    etc etc etc

I have EVERYTHING maxed out... no overclock on my gpu since I use the 30fps cap (for many reasons), and even then I always have over 50 FPS anyway...

Whatever the case is, just saying my system specs, which include a 680... and I have no problems in the game.

Sorry if this is a pointless post, been awake for 24+ hours and not thinking straight, and can't focus long enough to read the whole thread.

    Edit:
I set all my FFXIV graphics settings in the nvidia drivers and not in the game options itself.

    Also on Windows 7 64bit

    Edit:
I also use MSI Afterburner, which you can use regardless of who manufactured your card... try it out.

I recently picked up a GTX 680 and noticed the same DirectX crash issue that has been noted here. I turned DoF and AO off and I've only had it happen once since then.

I have, however, noticed another issue. I'm not sure if this is specific to the GTX 680, but I never noticed it with my Radeon 5850. I've uploaded a video in the hope that someone might know what is causing it.

    Final Fantasy XIV GTX Issue

The first part of the video is the easiest way to demonstrate the issue. As I open and close the menu, it moves smoothly, most of the time. Seemingly at random, you can see that it hangs for a split second.

In the second part of the video, I show it happening as I rotate the screen around my character and rotate while moving. At 40s and 48s in are two obvious examples of the issue.

This isn't something that happens rarely. It happens constantly and is extremely annoying. Has anyone experienced this issue or know what might be causing it?

do you have a controller plugged in? It's a known issue that if you dont plug a controller in, the game lags every 5-7 seconds. I used to have that problem and i traced it to windows plug and play. The game constantly searches for one if there isnt one plugged in. Its supposed to be in case you unplug and plug the controller back in it will connect, but all it does is cause lag for ppl not using controllers... lol

Wow...I had this exact same problem awhile ago. I never thought this would be the cause of it.

I uninstalled and reinstalled the entire game, and that cleared it up. Geez...what if my problem was the controller all along?

The engine may not be properly optimized to take advantage of SLI/680/690s. Just got my 690 last night, tried maxing everything, and it played like crap. Running at 2560x1600. If I disable AO and max AA it runs very nicely (have AA disabled in FFXIVConfig, and just using FXAA in Nvidia's CP). Both GPUS are under load as well.

    System specs:
    Intel I7 3820
    Asus Rampage IV Extreme
    16GB Ram
Game is installed onto a Sata3 SSD
    Dell Ultrasharp U3011

I play at standard settings with two GTX580s. At times I can hear the fans on the cards start screaming while running XIV (mostly during cutscenes). I think Sath has the right of it by saying the game does not take full advantage of SLI.

However, I do notice that having the Nvidia settings override the game settings for stuff like AA and AO, it does make things run a lot smoother, and the cards complain about the heat less.

That would indicate an FFXIV problem, which is nice (I suppose). As I said, I didn't notice it on my 5850, so I'm wondering why it showed up now. I wasn't running the game in full screen mode when I took the above screenshots or when I played with my 5850. It would be interesting to know if this is a common problem with the game or specific to certain people.

Huh...I'll try that when I get home. I reinstalled my operating system and while my controller is plugged in, it wasn't working the last time I tried to use it. I guessed that I had missed backing up wherever the controller settings were, but I never would've though that it would be the cause of this issue.

I tried disabling one GPU on my 690 and ran around a bit in my mog house, and it ran at about 45FPS (MSI Afterburner) Re-enabled multi-GPU, and it was at 60. AO disabled but enabled in nvidia CP.

    GPUs cap at around 73c.

running driver version 301.42 vsync on in nvidia CP as well.
