Why does it take 200+ hours to reach endgame?

As a new player, I currently have 8 days 12 hours (204 hours) playtime.
I am not having fun. Currently lvl 78. Middle of Stormblood mainstory.

Not like anything Square will do about it as it is subscription based, I just felt like venting knowing full well the people here on the forums are the most dedicated players.
I'm sure neither of us wants to waste any more time, so lets spend it elsewhere.

Sorry for my rudeness, I've been getting lack of sleep, not from playing the game, but after LASIK surgery and constantly waking up and other small things built up
I want to enjoy this game, I'll ask my group of friends and FC if they can help me experience the fun moments.

Because the journey to the endgame is the game. The so-called endgame is just grindy filler content to give people something to do until more story is released.

- Because the game has +6 Years?.

- Because each 3-4 months the game gets updated with new content?.

- Because in comparison to a Offline Game we already got 4 "Full Games" ( ARR, HW, SB, ShB ) and DOZENS of "Expansions Packs" between them?.

- Because it's called "progression"?.

- Because you actually playing the game, after all End-Game it's just a part of it?.

- Because where you playing it was a End-Game once?.

- Because people expect when you reach the End-Game you know how to play with your job and gameplay mechanics to do End-Game content with you instead teach you everything you should know first?.

If you're not having fun i must say this game it's not for you and you're not going to have fun at all when End-Game comes, after all there's nothing special with End-Game, it's just more content where people are stucked in until new content comes out while EVERYTHING is new for you, and you're complaining instead enjoy it, when you reach the End-Game you gonna say: "Is that it?, just keep spaming this over and over again for 3 months?, no new content to do and keep spamming the old ones until there?".

If u don't feel like doing story to get to end game then I'd suggest going onto the mogstation and buying a story skip potion, you can always go back to the unending journey in your inn room and watch cutscenes or watch all that stuff on YouTube.

To be fair to this game, you’re working through 6+ years worth of content. You can’t expect that to be less than a day’s worth of time.

That said, what about it is causing you to not have fun? Your complaint is a bit vague—we can’t offer advice on improving your experience without more information.

Endgame isn’t really all it’s cracked up to be. Unless you’re progging Ultimate, there’s honestly not much in terms of variety in FFXIV’s endgame right now.
