Question about steam payments

So i used to only use an entry level sub and just today since i never use my alt i decided to change it back to save some money. For some odd reason though i was only able to change this through Steam and it required me to add money to my steam wallet. I only added 5 bucks but i got thinking, will it only charge me though the wallet, or if i dont have enough in the wallet will it charge my card instead/in addition to?

I dont want to accidentally lose my house in game because i didn't have enough in my steam wallet to pay the sub. Im not sure if anyone knows but i'd appreciate the help since i dont really care to add money to the steam wallet; this is the only computer game i really play.

Also is there any way to change this off auto renewal? I tried when i was changing but the next button wasn't working unless i picked auto renewal (kinda dumb to give the option of manual payment and not even have the button work, SE :/), this whole payment change has been a pretty big mess, but i prefer to pay every month myself rather than having it charge me automatically.


Please only reply if you have the steam version of the game/know how it works, i know when it comes to payment the version off of SE site it is a little different from what i've heard, could be wrong though.

If I pay for a sub with steam it doesn't auto renew, only if I renew though a credit card directly on mogstation (I have both options available to resub, not just steam). I always have $0 in my steam wallet so when I sub I just get charged the exact amount and then need to authorize the payment to SE. That's about all there is to it on my end.

Though steam apparently charges a little bit of tax, but using a CC on mogstation does not.

tl;dr When you pay for something through steam wallet you usually get asked to fund your wallet for the remaining amount from another source, like your credit card for example. I never have steam on auto renewal so uh, not sure about that part.

I don't have the Steam version but have you tried contacting Steam support

Clear your browsers cache and try again. I've heard that fixes the issue with the mogstation only listing steam wallet as a payment option.
