Conputer blanking out due to game

Note: my computer can run the game very smoothly at top settings, and I have been playing for months

A Few days ago, while playing, my computer screen completely died, yet my computer continued to run. After a couple of seconds I could hear that it had restarted itself.

Puzzled I restarted and everything seemed fine. But once more after 15mins on ff14, it did the same thing. Not wanting to rule out my usage of two monitors, I have tried combinations of programs so see what the trigger is and have also monitored my CPU usage, which at maximum was around 12%

After a couple of days testing back and forth. I've managed to pinpoint that FinalFantasy14 is the reason my computer keeps having this issue, but now im wondering, since it's so close to after the patch, is it software or hardware? Or is it me being unlucky and having logged out at an Uldah inn?

If your game was crashing I would say it was due to the server lag/overload issues that they are currently working on. However, if you whole screen is going black for several seconds I would say you have a GPU or less likely a CPU thats overheating. Do you have a way to monitor your temps on this hardware? I think a lot of the GPU manufacturers have software on their sites for monitoring stuff (I know EVGA does anyway) and there are programs like RealTemp GT and CPUZ for CPU monitoring.

Also you can just open up your case and see if there is any dust in your fans/heat sinks. Use your finger or a pencil to keep the fans still (spinning them backwards can kill them) and then use a vacum to suck the dust out. My CPU dropped from 98-102c on full load to about 53-57c on full load after sucking the dust out :-)

    GOOD LUCK!

I was gonna say the same. Sounds like the GPU is overheating or failing in some way. 14 puts a LOT of stress on graphics cards. What u would really need to do is grab another card that you know can run the game and see what happens. Doesn't have to b an epic card @ max/high setting just any card that can run it.
