I built this rig about a month after starting XIV, the temptation was too high since I was running on a 4870x2 (the experience was horrifying, thanks to CF support):

    CPU: i7 950@4.00Ghz
    CPU Cooling: Noctua NH-D14
    Memory: x3 2GB 1600Mhz
VGA: GTX580 @850/1.088v, have Accelero Xtreme Plus installed.
OS/FFXIV SSD: OCZ Vertex II 60GB SSD
Case: Thermaltake Element G (mid tower, not so spacy, but it's fine, I had to remove the HDD cage to fit AXP though)

I have all settings at max (I play on 720p though, it's the most comfortable since I browse/vent a lot), except for AC and DoF. FPS is usually between 43-45 in crowded areas (Ul'dah, usually above 50 by crowded crystals), 60FPS otherwise.

It's funny that even after upgrading my GPU cooler the game still manage to hit 70/71c when GPU usage reach 99% (usually around 58c-65c, unless I zoom the camera to max and put focus above my char, then GPU usage drops and temps go down to 40s), while AC: Brotherhood on the other hand won't even break 51c... (like most other games)

Finally someone who is honest about their results :P Yeah I usually just put my fan at 72% and leave it like that while I play lol. I love AC brotherhood for pc ^^

lol no prob I am glad I can help totally made this thread worthwhile to me ^^ only thing youll notice is on rare occasions there's a tiny bit of flashing like in the benchmark when that crap falls from the sky. It does not really happen at all but i think in cut scenes sometimes when it transitions between scenes. No only reason I mention that is because he tells us he has a GTX 580 and cant run the game on totally full even on 720p which actually is the case. A lot of people with a lot less powerful systems say they run it on full at 1080p at 60frames at all times.. just doesn't happen..

Also I think one mans version of "runs great" is different than another. I personally get 55-60 in the feild...and 35-40 in town average(sometimes it hits 50+ but it really does hang around the lower numbers).
It's definitely smooth, but smooth isn't enough. I want LIQUID SMOOTH.

I myself start losing my ability to keep pace at around 75-80fps...so to me thats the sweet spot I want to shoot for in my gaming experience. I know some folks can keep pace with as high as 90fps. But after that not too many humans can tell the difference. I just want them to raise the FPS limit to 90fps and I think that will be perfect.

has anyone done any benchmarks with Unigen Heaven 2.0 or 3DMARK 2011. my system runs pretty well in Unigen, but 3DMARK 2011 just rips my system to shreds even on modest settings.

Run 1080p with all settings on highest except shadows on standard, 4x aa, no AO or DoF.
Fps is 50-60 out in the field, doesn't drop below 30 in town. Only lag I get is from my crappy HDD loading :/

Oh to all the people running crossfire I dont know if this is it because I dont run ATI but this is application profile tool from GURU 3D. This might be the one that has ffxiv that makes crossfire run super!
