[FEAST] Carry Over Tier Ranking Discouraging Diamond Players to Queue

Depending on your current rank in a season, you will be given a head start on the next season. Such as so:

• Diamond -> Gold
• Platinum -> Silver
• Gold -> Bronze
• Silver or Lower -> None

This is great, because it spreads the queue out a bit so new players aren't facing off against full on veteran players with the same rating to begin a season. However, this is based on the current tier of the player. If you earn a placement in the diamond tier, then later derank - you lose 500 points on the start of the next season. Can we please make this based on the highest achieved tier in the previous season?

At the moment the only reason to keep queuing after hitting diamond is to make top ten or rank one. Likely they will guarantee their top 100 placement by achieving diamond, which is where the majority of rewards come from. If it was changed to be based on highest achieved tier, players would be encouraged to keep climbing without a risk of losing their higher placement for the next season.

I actually never knew this because the last time I got Diamond, this system didn't exist, and then when I played S11 I was plat and didn't play for the rest of the expac; but yea wholly agree with you, the few Diamonds that do carry on queueing all the way til the end, I imagine if they have a bad night and end on 1900 they'd probs just not queue to not risk it if it's close to end of season lol. Whilst on the note of "reasons to queue" - yeah, outside of top 10/r1 nothing to queue for, still wishing there's more in-season rewards, and something to keep winning in Dia for.

I've been advocating another tier, at 2500 instead. Yeah sounds stupid because people will just afk at 2500 right? I think a lot of diamond players would actually get bogged down with the rating being 25-/25+ so that there would be more playing.

This way we get the best of both, diamond players don't dump on newbies in bronze and we get more pops in higher tier games because higher tier players will struggle more and also have more of a reason to play.
