Another option is using the MB for transfer.
You can set the price to 1gil to avoid losing money but it obviously puts the items at risk of being bought by another player and losing it altogether.
If you do it outside peak hours and as long as it's not an extremely popular item it's a decent alternative.

But I agree, at least one small shared inventory would be nice. This game is so incredibly alt-unfriendly and the excuse is always RMT. There are many reasons to play an alt and if you pay extra to do so, you should at least have the option of limited item transfer between alts without having to exclude yourself from regular FCs, pestering friends or risking money/ item loss via MB.

My understanding is that trading between alts is restricted to prevent RMT bots from passing money around easily - so they've sort of ruined it for the rest of us, if that's the case.

I think I've said before, I'd like to see some kind of deliberately-restrictive "transfer box" that could be used to pass items within the account but not at a rate convenient to the bots. Perhaps once a week you could deposit a single item and collect it with another character.

It probably comes down to their coding and how it recognises characters/accounts. If we can't share things like achievements and tallies, maybe there isn't actually the structure in place to create a "shared space" accessible by multiple characters.

You don't exactly need to pay extra to have alts, as long as you're okay with having them on different worlds. (Though of course that would rule out creating an FC if you were going that route.)
