You know Necromancer Bro, a lot of people just call you a troll and hate what you’re doing... but sometimes you make me laugh.

As someone with a bachelor's degree in literature - which I hope is enough - all I can say is that the way they use these archaic words is usually a way to make the game feel older and have a sort of "flavor" in the game...but it's also used as a way to masquerade bad or boring dialogue by making it "sound" more important and epic, by adding some extra stuff like additional adjectives or descriptions that aren't really required or even necessary, which is usually going by the name of Purple Prosing ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Purple_prose ).I'm not an english major so I don't know these big words. But omg can we all agree to chill with the big words. How come urianger and even the crystal Miqote use words like "puissant"? What does "by his most puissant hands" even mean lol? Do you want people to carry a dictionary when they do the msq? Because if you are you succeeded congrats looooool.
To put it simply, yeah I agree that they should tone down the big words, because a lot of times it didn't really felt needed and usually -USUALLY- they are used to make characters dialogue have unique quirks in their speeches: for example Urianger speaks like that, which is a quirk and it works because that's how he usually talks, but for everyone else, when they use the same words over and over like "pray" or "Mayhaps"...well the problem is everyone does use the same words now it so it doesn't feel as unique, and it feels as if they tried to make the dialogue more interesting when truly it wasn't. I mean having 5 paragraphs for telling me to kill some random enemies, I feel that's a tiny bit unnecessary.
I consider these types of words like spices in food: putting too much can ruin the flavor of the food. In this game....eeehh....well...I think it only slows the pacing of the dialogues because good dialogue doesn't need quirky words to be interesting (I mean in WoW you have dragons and they don't speak like that, but they still manage to use some sort of high-class english). Even some of the old books I studied had faster pacing and didn't use many uncommon words, and usually these "fancy words" were meant for theatrical scenes and not books.
Plus, a lot of cool quotes, are usually made in rather simple ways: one of my favorites is literally the first sentence in the book "The Outsider" (L'étranger) of Camus, starting with "Today, mom died", so simple yet it intrigues you.
But that's just me anyway: got nothing against people like this type of dialogues so everyone's free to enjoy it as much as they like, but I'm not a huge fan of it.

Urianger isn't using "new words". He is using archaic words from Middle English.I'm not an english major so I don't know these big words. But omg can we all agree to chill with the big words. I'm always wondering what new Gay Reference he's going to use with his next avatar. Honestly, this one is less interesting. Also, he is more literate that his opening post suggests, which just makes me want to shake my head and laugh. Because if you are this illiterate, there is no way you're smart enough to navigate the Mogstation to create a User Name, Account, and set up a monthly sub. Seriously, need at least a semester in Computer Science, Information Science to navigate their website and billing.
I have a pretty good vocabulary so the game's baroque script didn't catch me terribly off guard. It gives the game a certain degree of class that's absent in most other games, and expanding your vocabulary is never a bad thing (even if using certain words like puissant in daily life will get you odd looks at best). Funnily enough, non-EN scripts don't dip into the same archaic vernacular.
My only point of contention is how everyone speaks with an English accent. Regardless of being separated by thousands of malms, cultures that developed wholly separate from one another, and even being on entire different planes of existence, everyone still speaks with an English accent. They do pronounce foreign words correctly, but it's still jarring for Domans to be using English accents. (I mean I understand why, but it's still irritating. The one exception to this off the top of my head is Lyna, who does in fact speak with the Icelandic accent Fran set the Viera precedent for.)

Strange adjective choices aside, why do some of the npc names look like they were made by slapping a keyboard?
If they're Sea Wolf Roegadyn, then it makes sense. Look up their naming convention.
I'd wager you're talking mostly about Roegadyn, whose native language (or at least the Sea Wolf naming conventions) seem to take cues from Welsh. Welsh looks strange if you don't know the language ("prince" translates to "tywysog," for example).
Just about every in-game culture seems to draw inspiration from from a real world culture, language included, so it's just a matter of figuring that out.

Troll or not, I laughed. Just the sheer ridiculousness of this was amusing.I'm not an english major so I don't know these big words. But omg can we all agree to chill with the big words.
