I just turned 40 and... somehow feel half way, too old for Y and too young for X.

I also just turned 40, so I absolutely feel you. We're the micro generation generally called Xennials. We were born in the late 70's and early 80's. We grew up with Fresh Prince, Saved By The Bell, New Kids On The Block, The Disney Afternoon, and The New Adventures of Batman and Superman.
We watched the first computers enter the home, and cassette taps morph into CD's. We learned how to use a dos prompt to start windows as kids, and how to reinstall an OS the minute we downloaded a virus from Napster. We learned, the hard way, how to create the first webpages and those times sometimes haunt our collective memories. We were also among the first hackers, crackers, and computer security specialists. We understand EXACTLY what the digital divide means and how painful it really can be.
We listened to Weird Al, and watched Star Trek the Next Generation as it came out. We went outside to play fearlessly, and learned what to do if you were a latchkey kid and came home to find your house door open. We relate to Millennials, and their crushing student loan debt, and watched helplessly as the Great Recession happened just as we were entering the job market. We understand living paycheck to paycheck and struggling to keep our heads above water. But we also relate to the older GenX and even our Baby Boomer parents and their stubborn belief that there IS a way if you look hard enough.
We are Xennials, and honestly we get the other generations more than they will ever get us.

A bit younger it was Silver Spoons (I dreamed about the house train :-D).
Saved By The Bell... some memories... Tiffani Amber Thiessen...
And don't forget 21 Jumpstreet.
But about the music... boys band were not my thing. But the start of Britney or Spice Girls... yes. Ok... years later I'm asking myself : Really? But... at this time... it was... yes.

Lol I don't remember Silver Spoons at all, and I had forgotten all about 21 Jumpstreet. My dad raised me on Star Trek, Disney, the WB, and National Geographic so I didn't really begin to grasp a lot of the stuff the other girls were screaming about until I was much older. I have a clear memory of someone mentioning The New Kids on the Block and me going "Who?". The horrified looks were kind of glorious in retrospect...A bit younger it was Silver Spoons (I dreamed about the house train :-D).

I do remember the rise of Britney and the Spice Girls though. I remember belting Genie in a Bottle like no tomorrow lol!

Hey now dont forget Punky Brewster, He-Man, and She-Ra (and I dont mean that crappy remake of her on Netflix either.) I used to have a She-Ra action figure that kept losing the fake jewel on her chest.Lol I don't remember Silver Spoons at all, and I had forgotten all about 21 Jumpstreet.
