When we'd go play football or basketball or baseball and then come back and play a nes or snes game about playing football or basketball or baseball.

That would be my era as well. Played some hoops after school, spent an hour at the arcade playing street fighter then come home to play super mario world. Mom giving my friend the stinkeye before calling his mom. Next day, bike to your favorite convenience store, get some super cheap freezies, go to your friends' place, play snes, go back out again to the mall, try to get girls' numbers, fail epicly, go home, find your mom occupying the landline for hours, read a book until 3am...
