Except gear design and restrictions on how they are used has been deliberately implemented since the beginning because Yoshi wants the lore of the game to be consistant

I'm not saying anything about not wanting the lore to be consistent, I know and agree it is important. I'm saying it was a stupid lore decision in the first place to explain the lunchbox in a way that severely limits the appearance customizability of only ONE JOB in the entire game.
