The camels aren't native and are basically feral, it's pretty standard to cull invasive introduced animals to ensure they don't out-complete native wildlife.

Yeah, NZ does Deer culls all the time for this reason, and hunting in general is encouraged. Especially possum hunting, since invasive species are so destructive to ecosystems. It's why I wear possum fur gloves in the winter :3 Hunters get paid for the fur, and I get to keep my hands warm
