Regarding OP; while it seems like a selfish request from someone who just wants a kangaroo mount at first glance, these sorts of fundraisers are very effective. Blizzard does a yearly Make-A-Wish mount/minion that regularly raises millions from people who would not otherwise donate. And by now we've surely all heard the case of $750k or more donated in return for a model's... "personal" photos.

If you offer something that players want in return for donations, it will very likely generate more donation money than we could convince SE to give off their own bottom line.

I also agree with post #2 in that it would be a nice gesture for SE to commit to data centers that use more renewable energy. Renewables are becoming cheaper, so it's almost self serving for them. There's little to no downside.
