mac client crashe upon launch

when i launch the (new) mac client, it crashes instantly with dx11 error in japanese language

i am using a 27 inch imac retina with the gpu RX 480 4gb
i am on mojave

this happens after i login and click play and i have to force close it




things i already tried:
reinstalling macos
updating macos
switching from hfs to aps
updating safari
changing browsertypes in config file
skipping opening movie in config file
changing gpu to rx 560

none of this has worked
reinstalling macos

I downloaded the client from here: https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/mac/download

It is the new, dx11 64bit mac client for mojave.

I just downloaded it on the day of posting

Yes, I have made attempts to reinstall the game.


On my mac when I use bootcamp in windows or linux I notice that vulken does not work could this be a related issue? thanks

A user on reddit suggested I change my resolution, I will do that and report back.
