    New 90001 and 90002 Disconnects

    Hello,

I have been playing for years with few problems until very recently. I switched my internet plan to one that uses an XFinity Gateway, and since then I have been having 90001 and 90002 disconnects happening between every 5 and 20 minutes. I did some research and enabled port forwarding on the recommended ports, which seemed to help for a week or so but now I am having problems again. As a note, my PC is connected with a wired connection to the gateway. I have heard about turning on Bridge mode and reconnecting my router for WiFi, is it possible that might help even though I am using the wired connection? Has anyone had a similar problem that can help out?

    Thanks!

Good afternoon and thank you for posting on the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.

To clarify, did you change your ISP or just the type of connection from the same ISP?

Do you notice any pattern to the disconnects, do they only happen in certain locations or while doing certain actions?

We hope we can be of assistance in helping you enjoy the exciting world of Final Fantasy XIV!

ISP has stayed the same, XFinity. I just changed from using a netgear modem/router combo to using the xfinity advanced gateway. No pattern noticed, can be in instances, just sitting in a zone, whatever. I did put the gateway in bridge mode and that seemed to clear up the problem, I was able to queue for Palace of the Dead and get through level 41 to 50 before we wiped to the boss. Has anyone else used the XFi gateway in bridge only mode with any luck? I want to know before I go buy a new router for WiFi if this will work.

Good morning and thank you for the reply.

Could you try the following port forwarding instructions:

Port Forward – open the following ports ranges on your router:
    ▼TCP
    54992 through 54994,
    55006 through 55007,
    55021 through 55040

These are remote ports in your router’s firewall. They designate what can send information to your PC and what cannot. These specific ports are used by the game to connect to the local client.

Yep, as I said, I had already done that. Is there anything else that might help?

Good afternoon and thank you for posting on the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.

It seems the connection issues you are experiencing are related to your new router/service. There are a few other things you can try. Ultimately, you may want to contact your ISP regarding the issue.

    1) Try resetting your router by turning it off, then back on after a few minutes.

    2) Make sure your anti-virus has the proper exceptions for Final Fantasy XIV. This includes the install folder and the locally-saved data folder (located My Documents > My Games > Final Fantasy XIV).

    3) The game will use the Internet Explorer web browser to connect to the internet. Open Internet Explorer, then open the "Tools" setting, go to "Internet Options" and adjust the following settings:
    - Under the "General" tab, please delete ALL browser history.
    - Under the "Security" tab, please move the slider to the lowest possible settings or no higher than "Medium"
    - Under the "Privacy" tab, click “Advanced” and select ‘Accept’ under both First Party and Third Party Cookies.
    - Under the "Advanced" tab, please make sure that "Allow software to run or install even if signature is invalid" is CHECKED.
    - Make sure that all SSL and TLS (EXCEPT SSL 3.0) are CHECKED. [SSL 3.0 should be UNCHECKED]
    - Hit "Apply" to save the settings, and then "OK, to close the Internet Options menu.
