    Remove crafting specialist?

I'm leveling all my DoH/DoL jobs. and now about level 60.
I got "Specialist" aka Soul of the Crafter for my BSM, and now I can't do any of the GC supply turnins on my BSM because I don't have the recipes, of course, because I can't craft any of the things with high enough numbers. When I look for guides, they all are old - before the big change we had recently and so are wrong - or are for high levels.
[And by the way, if you do youtube guides, PLEASE turn off the back freaking ground music so I can freaking hear you talk? Thanks so much.]

Sooooooooo. l can't make HQ / Collectable gear of high enough level to get books. Sooooo

I need to back off of "Soul of the Crafter" on my BSM for now so I can level with GC turnins again. BUt if I unequip "Soul of the Crafter" and refresh or logout out and back, and look at the GC list again, it still wants me to make stuff with my BSM that I cannot make.

    Sooooooooooooo.
How do I remove this Specialist status on my BSM job so that I am not a specialist?

Or is this just a bug and it should work to unequip the Soul Stone and the GC should watch that status and isn't?

    What gives? Please?
    Thanks.

Specialists should not affect GC turn in at all. All it does is boost your stats and allows you to craft certain things on the patch they release on.

You'd think having the SotC equipped would help since it gives you pretty decent stats. But the GC shouldn't be giving you specialist recipes, as far as I know the only specialist ones are lv80 Hades-related? However it will ask you for recipes from the master recipe books, which you get for scrips from doing collectables, except for the lv50 master recipes, which are from Talan and giving him particular crafted items. If it's asking for a recipe from a master book, you just might be SoL.

But if you want to get rid of specialist I believe the same NPC will do it for you. I don't think that's the issue, though.

Actually, no. If you are a specialist, then you are given things in the GC list to turn in that you need books to get the Recipes from. There's a mark at the right end of the line showing it's a specialist recipe and if you don't have the book, then you won't have the recipe. Since I don't have books 'cause I can't figure out how to do HQ/Collectable quality items, I'm stuck. And Yep, Kidria, it's an issue if, like me, you can't figure out the rotations, or don't have the gear to do HQ/Collectable crafting. I'll check with the NPC in Foundation - By the Airship platform. BTW, why are these NPCs scattered all over the place - Mordona, Foundation central, Foundation Airship platform... SQX Just pick a place please.

Those items are all found in the Master recipe books, which are available to all crafters regardless of specialties.

There are only a handful of recipes that require Specialist to make, and none of those items are on the GC or custom delivery lists. They're all primal related items (weapons, bardings, housing items, orchestrion rolls).

Since you're on Coeurl, I'll try to catch you in game and help figure out what's causing the issue for you.

The items requested by your GC are picked randomly from the list appropriate to your level with each crafting class. For endgame levels of each expansion the list may include items that require mastercraft books. This has nothing to do with you being a specialist or not with that class, or owning the book or not.

You are not stuck though. You have several avenues by which to progress:
    - You can simply wait for the GC returns to be rerandomized and hope for better requests
    - Leves do not require HQ items
    - Custom delivery items are very easy to make at the basic collectibility rating and give scrips
    - The first time crafting bonuses from the crafting log give a decent chunk of EXP
    - If you're far enough in Stormblood MSQ you can unlock Namazu tribe quests and do those
    - Or you can just craft enough items to level up

Yeah, as said before, Master books are not specialist-locked. Specialist, after 5.1, now give the soul of crafter that gives extra stats and will allow you to create very specific primal-related items, which I believe are only the lv80 right now, and GC never asks for primal items.

Master books are the ways for crafters to progress/learn new recipes at each cap level. Your level 60 class quest should have required a master book recipe, if I rem correctly?

Thanks all. I worked a while with Jojoya and she got me going. I'm on the right track now.

You get book recipes for GC turnins regardless. It pulls from a small pool of items at each items crafting level.

I think this only has a chance between 57-62 and 67-72 though.

Specialists is something that should be removed conpletely and replaced with job upgrades for all crafters, just like all combat classes have job upgrades via job crystalls, so should have all crafters n gatherers too
