Can we talk about interactive furniture again?

I'll get straight to it. I'd like if there was an option to open up some interactive furniture for anyone to use.

    Primarily, I am looking at:
    • Summoning Bell
    • Crystal Bell
    • Vendors
    • Crafting Facilities
I am not sure if the apprehension here is a technical limitation, or if it's some kind of principle against people freeloading, or if it's some kind of fear people might lose interest in having an apartment/home of their own if they can just borrow someone elses stuff. The thing is, the affordances of interactive furniture isn't really the main drive of housing for a lot of players. Furthermore, ownership of your own vendors is not really a prestigious thing we need to feel people have to earn. Apartments are relatively accessible after you have cleared ARR, and while the facilities are perhaps a bit difficult for new players to get unassisted, the vendors are pretty cheap.

Really what I am after here is fostering community and mentorship, regardless of standing and allegiances. For example, a lot of the players who regular my home are sprouts or those less wealthy than I who are members of any number of different FCs. They have come together at that location to network, craft, and support each other. It would be cool if they could make use of the NPCs, facilities, and summoning bells there, without having to juggle shared estate settings.

As a reminder to underscore all of this, if you don't like the idea of a bunch of people snooping around your house to use your vendors or summoning bell and stuff, you are 100% in your right to opt-out, just like your ability to decide if people can enter or teleport to your estate. Alternatively, it could be a menu that allows you to control permissions by item type. Can include categories like food, vendor, facilities, lights, etc.

As a side note, permissions to change the patterns on wall partitions should probably be grouped with furniture placement/removal permissions and entirely separate from permissions to operate interactive furniture. Right now it is such that even wallpaper from the Mog Station can be discarded by anyone in the FC. Of course the onus is on people to invite people they trust but it seems strange it should be divorced from the rest of the decor settings and I think this is probably a technical limitation more than a moral one.

Mmmmmmm... I'm not completely against this idea, but I don't think I'd like John Q Public doing this willy nilly. That's the sort of thing I'd rather reserve for friends or FC mates. Like a very basic version of adding people to your estate only you can add more than 2 people.

That would kind of suck if you want to make an arcade or something if all the attendees need to be on your friend list. I think a general setting like the one outlined in the post makes sense, where you can set it just like how you can set if people are able to enter your home at all. If necessary they could make it a separate option to include friends but not the general public though.

The option to keep it to friends exclusively would be my preference then, if I had to pick one of your two options. My house isn't an arcade, or any other venue that MIGHT have a reasonable reason for people at large to come in and interact with my furnishings. It's where my character lives. And as much as I enjoy having company over, I don't particularly want random strangers coming in to use my summoning bell or anything. However, I wouldn't specifically mind letting some of my friends be able to do that.
