... this is starting to feel like people dictating how others should play their characters. While there is optimization, unless someone is an FC member or a constant party member I don't really feel any need for them to "keep up" as long as the run is done in a reasonable amount of time. Wall to wall pulling with optimized sprints on the whole party is great ... but if I'm partying with randoms I'm going to be fine with people just doing their role functions in a average manner.
WHERE IS THIS KETTLE EVERYONE KEEPS INTRODUCING ME TO?

When I tank, I use sprint to mitigate dmg when I mass pull. It saves me an early use of a defensive cd while running. When I stop, then I use a cd. If everyone else decides they don't want to use sprint for whatever reason, that's fine because usually one of these two thngs will happen:
-I survive long enough for the healer to reach me and we live through it
-I die and I don't mass pull again.
Now the funny thing is that there are very few dgns in the game where if you manage to run ahead and the healer isn't right behind you, your mortality rate is definitely assured or very near it. Depending on which tank job I play, I may try it or not. All you need to do is to assess the kind of party you have and what can you personally do as tank when you sprint.
As a healer, I just piratically hug my tank. If tank sprints, I sprint. If tank doesn't, I don't. There's no reason not to and also it syncs the sprint cd. I love doing it even more as WHM, when I can swiftcast a holy to interrupt mob onslaught, cast whatever I need on my tank, then continue the holy fest. Hell, I've memorized the dmg that some enemy aoe does so well, I might not even move and continue to let it rip.
As a dps, I sprint all the time, regardless. I know when to stop. I know when to keep going. I've rarely tripped up the spawn flag in a dgn doing so. If you get mad that I'm running ahead, I'd just laugh it off because I'm not tagging mobs for anyone. I'm not playing to assuage your fear that I might go out of line when fully know that I won't.
Healing DRK is literally... the same since ShB. The reason why people think it's a meme to heal nowadays because DRK receives very little to no buff to their sustainability vs 3 other tanks getting something useful. If you're capable of healing DRK back in ShB (or any tanks), then you'll heal EW DRK just fine.

I like to take my time and enjoy the sights.![]()

I like to keep it for when it's needed, whether that be for keeping pace with the tank or for dodging mechanics. To me it really depends on how it best fits in with the group I'm running with but I rarely play tank/healer so I'm rarely the one setting the pace.
1- as others have said, I actually use sprint in combat so it might be on cd (and I'd hate it being on cd during the fight because I used it on trash)
2- more often than not, tank needs some time being forward because stop to aggro a group, go again, stop and grab another and so on. As a healer or dps, if you go as fast as the tank you're often standing there waiting, since you shouldn't heal or dps until aggro is established.
It's all very situational. Of course as a healer I try to be gluey, but that might lead to the "too early" consequence.

Expecting randoms to have situational awareness in dungeons? Ha!Tanks - "Don't run ahead of me!" USE SPRINT AND GO, THEN.
Healers - "Don't run so far ahead!" USE SPRINT AND GO, THEN.
DPS - "derpa derpa derpa, we'll dps when we eventually get there."
I feel like the majority of players forget they have Sprint in dungeons. As a healer I hate watching tanks pull wall to wall but get their butts kicked from one end of the other because they didn't push the Sprint button, and as a tank I hate it because I sprint ahead and end up having to pop way more cooldowns because my group is still a hundred yalms away skipping through fields and picking flowers on their way to the next pack of enemies, and as DPS? OH MY GOSH EVERYONE IS SLOW HURRY UP JEEZ.
Mini rant over?![]()

Honestly I feel like the OP has to much faith in the rest of players in the instance. As a tank I never use Sprint because I don't need it to dodge any mechanic and to assume your party will keep up is basically like casting doom on yourself. As a healer/dps I'll use it if the tank does. Otherwise it's something I almost never use.
Sprint doesn't increase damage and my 4 (four!!!!!) hotbars are already full. I don't have space to put sprint on my overloaded hotbar. I suspect many players are in the same position as me. Between increasing my DPS with a useful damage ability or sprint, I think I will always go with the former.

It's because these new age MMO's give out way too many pets. They fill up my (our) hotbars, and leave no room for sprint!Sprint doesn't increase damage and my 4 (four!!!!!) hotbars are already full.
