There are the Postmoogle quests available at level 50 and above that although go into other NPCs backstories, do feature the moogle delivery service. The patch 2.1 story also involves the summoning of the moogle Primal Good King Moggle Mog the XIIth which, naturally, you have to destroy.
And then during the first expansion Heavensward eventually features the moogle hometown Moghome, that features a whole series of quests involving the moogles there (which were much hated by players simply due to the sheer number of them being fetch quests that the moogles were too lazy to do themselves, and that they made no attempt to hide that fact from you either!) - several of which are actually required as part of HW's main scenario, which opens up to the daily repeatable moogle beast-tribe quests (that requires crafting and gathering classes to be at least level 50 to undertake though).
And it should go without saying that moogles are an important part of Gridania's backstory (Gridania's founding was only made possible by the moogles interceding on the Gelmorrans behalf with the elementals of the Black Shroud, who allowed them to settle on the surface), as well as being asked to run the Moogle Delivery Service by the padjal of Gridania after linkshells and the original aetheryte networks were destroyed in the Calamity.
So keep playing, moogles do feature heavily in FFXIV's storyline and there are special quests that directly involve them.![]()
One small note. Enkidoh mentions the moogles of Moghome. In addition to their general story and side quests, they also have a full-on beast tribe questline associated with them. Theyre looking for some crafters(level 50+) to help them with a project. So you can spend a lot of time with them if you like.
So im not going to lie. I sort of remember typing that post last night. I totally remember reading what Enkidoh wrote, and thinking to myself it was strange that she didnt mention the beast tribe. Looking back on her post with slightly more awake eyes today, it seems like i only read about half of it. But being more awake today, i can add a little tidbit she didnt mention. If you ever decide to level up the Dark Knight class, the moogles of moghome make an appearance in a couple of the class quests(DRK is considered to be one of the better questlines in general).
After you finish the moogle beasttribe quests in HW, there are a couple more quests with moogles - but its alot of work. When you get bloodsworn with all 3 HW beast tribes, there is another quest series involving all 3 HW beast tribes.
I just finished them and man... vanu vanu = "how far away from any teleporter can we make your quest locations"
You can listen to music rolls you've found even if you don't have a house or apartment, by simply entering any Inn Room in any of the cities (Gridania, Ul'dah, Limsa Lominsa, Ishgard, Kugane and the Crystarium), as they have a table orchestrion in them for that (I'm not sure if you can set a playlist though).
Either way, orchestrion rolls are definetely worth getting if you're into the game's music like me (do be aware though that like a lot of things in the game some music is exclusive and was only offered for a short time in special events that have since ended and cannot be attained anymore sadly, but there is still plenty of other music available for the orchestrion that you can easily gain for your audio pleasure).![]()
So just as an FYI, the only "exclusive" items for this version of irregular tomes are the namazu neckerchief, and the magic prism of job mastery(i say this version, because this is the 3rd or 4th time theyve done this sort of event - each time with a somewhat changed reward list). The neckerchief is a glamour item, so whether someone wants it is a matter of taste. The prism is basically a firework, and probly only worth buying if you have extra tomes and nothing to spend them on(my opinion of course). All the other items are currently available somewhere in game as rewards. Some of them are easier to get via the event, some are easier the traditional way(personally id never spend 30 tomes on a riding map i can get for allied seals, but a single run of one of the higher value instances is easier then farming a rare mini drop like that panda). The bomb mount? Spend enough time building faction with the kobolds of outer la nosca and their merchant will sell you one when you have the spare cash. The fedora(and jacket) are trade-in rewards for doing a large-scale fate involving a giant coerl(the fate spawns in one of the early heavensward zones). The magitek predator mount key is a random drop(lowish probability, but not super rare) from the final boss in the level 70 story dungeon that ends the 4.0 storyline. Those music scrolls come from a few places(2 are from stormblood beast tribes, 3 are from treasure maps, and Answers is crafted using drops from the coil raids), and as Enkidoh points out you can listen to them in your inn room for now. What do you mean by "a lot of work"? I wouldn't mind it, probably. That said, I'm getting a bit roughed up from doing the same dungeon just to get the irregular tomes, haha. I still want the Bomb mount and maybe Fedora, the robot mount and that'd be it. Is it worth to get music pieces if I don't have anywhere to listen to them yet? XD So far I earned only 200k gil, so a house is a far away dream... :<
Oh, and to answer your question. Deadman kinda explained what he meant by "a lot of work". After finishing the moogle storyline and advancing them to reputation rank 8(or at the same time if you prefer), you need to unlock and advance both of the other heavensward beast tribes(the gnath and the vanu vanu) to the same level(you also need to complete the 3.0 storyline, but that typically takes much less time then grinding 3 tribes to rank 8). This unlocks the allied beast tribe quests for heavensward, where the moogles(and those other tribes) make a return appearance.
