Isn't void just darkness tho' ? That would kinda "just be" DPS dark knight. Like the dark knight dps spec of FFXI.

Given the number of people who keep demanding XI's scythe-wielding DRK as a 'DPS job', this seems like a likely pick. It fits especially well considering the fact that the one current maiming job is a heavy armored polearm user.
I would have expected Mystic Knight to show up (i.e. a melee job that weaves spells and physical attacks), but for the fact that there are way too many sword users already to make it a visually distinct weapon type. But if this Mantis Knight concept goes a similar route with a scythe, perhaps that's another option.
I'm also reminded of GW1's Dervish. Jump into packs of enemies, and whirl around with your scythe and spells.
Bonus points if they finally merge Skill Speed and Spell Speed into a single Haste stat. No need to punish jobs that use both weaponskills and spells.
Honestly you can always find new sword concepts.
Just dual swords that link into a double-blade like Gabranth.
Chinese type hook-swords
Two-handing paladin swords...
Even the scythe could ba scimitar attached to a casting staff for all we know, Bloodborne style.
With a lot of companies trying to appease to China, I am surprised that Ffxiv hasn't done anything yet. I predict next class will have a Chinese weapon.
That could be fun, there is quite a few fun ones.
Still think it is going to be a Garlean soldier class. You have a lot of death imagery and symbolism present in the Garlean army.
The army was created by a guy named Hades, after the Greek God of the Dead.
They field Reaper battle mechs and infantry regiments named Wolf Skulls, simply nicknamed the Skulls.
Their soldiers look like this, notice the skull faceplates on the helmets:
They have a bunch of attacks that reference death and judgement such as Terminus Est and Crocea Mors.
We are heading to Garlemald and we tend to get classes out of where we are going story-wise.
Yoshida's shirt was the same color scheme as Gaius's outfits (red, black, white, gold and orange) and Gaius had a helmet with a skull faceplate:
Gaius also spent the last couple of years hanging out with our group's new Sage and Dragoon along with showing off several new abilities and animations recently.

A neat theory, but Gaius would not be the teacher as that'd lock it behind MSQ. It's much more likely that if this is the case, Gaius is being a hint toward it. Kind of like Gosetsu was a hint toward Samurai.Still think it is going to be a Garlean soldier class. You have a lot of death imagery and symbolism present in the Garlean army.

We'd most likely get some garlean defector as the teacher. Maybe even someone defecting from the castrum in La Nocesca, as it's just kind of... existed for a while not really having much purpose? (Though it has some minor role in Coils of Bahamut doesn't it?)
The job would also work well due to the neutral Garlean Gunblade stance being so distinct, thus it fulfills the shillouette design that the art team is so obsessed with.
