Can we get Garo-related gears back in the game ?

Hi guys,

I'm a new player just bought a game for nearly a month. And it is so worth. It's been a long time since I found a game I'm so dedicated to its contents. One thing I love is chasing pieces of gear and making them glamours (I played 160 hours already but haven't even finished ARR yet - pouring my time into PvP for those glamours). That being said, I was so disappointed knowing that the Garo gears and mounts are no longer obtainable in the game. I honestly wished I played the game a little earlier. Is there any chance the devs will bring them back in the game, or at least just make them appear in the Calamity Salvager options for new players like me (even at a higher wolf marks price than the original). The thought of not being able to have those beautiful gears bugs me everytime I log in to the game.

I know my request is selfish since it was in the game for a long time, according to some players I asked, but I don't want to abandon the hope and maybe find someone like me

Considering the trouble they went through to make sure everyone knew they were on the way out I don't suspect they'll be back at all. Doesn't hurt to request though. Hope it does come back, some of the stuff was really neat and are some of my favorite pieces.

Yo-Kai came back once and iirc only because Yoshi is personal friends with that Yo-Kai guy.
Garo was in the game for years. We were made aware months in advance it would be leaving. I don’t see Garo making a return.

Idk why they even removed it at all tbh... I mean it was in for so long, and I came back to the game months after it started, so I didn't even know it was a limited time "event" until they started talking about removing it.

At least the removal gave a few solid weeks of very quick PvP queues...

Yo-Kai came back once and iirc only because Yoshi is personal friends with that Yo-Kai guy.
Garo was in the game for years. We were made aware months in advance it would be leaving. I don’t see Garo making a return.

Duskane mentions it as "keeps coming back" because Yoshi announced its return at some point in the future, in the most recent 14-hour live stream. This time, they'll be making it easier to obtain the Whisper-Go mount, along with the addition of Yokai weapons for RDM, SAM, GNB, and DNC.

As for the GARO event, I wouldn't be surprised if it'll eventually make a comeback, if there's enough demand for it.

It's surprising that it went on for as long as it did, since they initially mentioned the event would continue on until some point after the release of Stormblood.

What was interesting about Garo was it initially served as a means of getting catch up gear via pvp. It wasn't bis when it came out or anything, but 230 ilvl gear wasn't anything to sneeze at either when trying to bump your ilvl up on a new new character/alt job. Because it was done that way and all the titles, achievements and mounts tied to doing pvp I think unlike most other events it was intended from the start to last a long time.

Obviously I'm not a SE insider and so don't know why exactly it went away. But I would guess it's because of licensing issues or something. I don't think it's likely to come back ever. But no harm in requesting it, and while I 'got mine' it'd be cool if the gear was brought back at some point. A lot of the sets were really good and unique without feeling too out of place in FFXIV.

Yeah if I had to guess that explanation probably makes the most sense. Be nice if they could at least add the gold saucer versions back, if they can't/don't want to do the full event... so the skins would be available, just not dyeable. I'd rather have the bonus incentives to PvP personally, but still.

I thought they said specifically at the time that the licence has expired? Or maybe that was just speculation when we were discussing it.

In any case, if it is due to licensing then there's no chance of adding just the GS versions back "so we have them in some form", because the licence would be for using those gear designs in any form. Either the licence gets renewed, or they're not coming back at all.


I do hope they can come back at some point - there are some great designs and it's disappointing that I won't be able to access them on any future alts. I had a mad last-minute grind when I realised (a week before 5.1) that a planned-future-alt wasn't going to be able to get them if I didn't start and rush him through the MSQ right now. I got most things I wanted but was so burnt out at the end I couldn't quite bring myself to grind for the healer boots. I'm regretting that a bit, but I really couldn't do it at the time.

The outfits are from the Garo show so they're probably an all or nothing thing.

The GS versions kind of confused me tbh, because they're inferior to the normal ones (not dyable, not actual stated gear), but at least for me it would take much longer to grind out the mgp for them than the wolf marks for the pvp gear.

Would be nice if at the very least they put in an Emperor's New Shield item, I think the Garo shield is the only invisible shield in the game.

Slightly tin foil hatty here, but maybe they'll go up on the market board one day if I'm wrong about the licensing deal being why they were removed.
