You could go play WoW as Alliance for a while. You'll end up with more ordinary horses than you you can stand

It's a limited mount, you see. Not usable by lizard men.

The lore of the game is that horses are not native to Eorzea at all, only unicorns are - the few horses found there were imported from the Far East (such as the Grand Company warhorses), or are magical constructs like Odin's steed Slepinir, as chocobos are the preferred mount for the more rocky terrain.

Yet we can visit the Far East since the release of the Stormblood expansion, so it would make perfect sense to be able to purchase a horse mount from the region to which it is native.
