Why did this fail to achieve HQ?

It seems almost certain to not produce HQ item for some reason. I had used up my pool of electrum, farmed up some more and craft again. So it has to be more than just an unlucky streak.

Also for gods sake what year is this? Why are there still forum that does not allow image upload?

what order are you using your skills? what level are you? what is your gear like?

83% chance of HQ is just that - a chance of HQ. It is not guaranteed to HQ.

Get enough of them and odds are many more will be HQ than NQ, but there is no accumulation of chance. Each time you do the crafting, it is its own separate RNG call. So yes, you can “fail” at 99% and you can “succeed” at 1%.

RNG is a bitch. How many ingots did you craft and how many turned out HQ? Fortunately crafting is so easy these days that getting HQ intermediate products is not required.

It's RNG. Unless you get it to 100%, there's no guarantee you're going to get HQ.

One thing people need to keep in mind. Random number generators aren't truly random. If bad seeds are used, results may not fall in line with what's stated while the bad seed is active. It's more annoyance than anything else in a game like this, where there's usually another chance to get the result desired, but it can be very frustrating.

On the other hand the human mind tries very hard to see order in chaos. If a coin comes up heads five times in a row, a human will think "this is not random" even though there's a roughly 3% chance of that sequence occurring randomly. Out of all possible sequences, a significant portion is perceived as "non-random".

In fact games probably shouldn't aim for true randomness. Instead they should tweak their RNG output to preserve the expected odds and the satisfaction of beating the odds, but avoid overly long streaks of bad luck. It does require some care to prevent exploiting the system though.

Unless you get to 100% you're going to have that RNG, and sometimes it'll bite you. Repeatedly. Now, if your rotation was SUPPOSED to get 100% and didn't, you may have hit byregot's on a poor or something. But if this is your average best for your rotation you may need to add a HQ mat or two in order to bump it up to 100% quality for that HQ craft.

I was a quite upset over these consecutive results that I hate to accept it as bad streak. When I was leveling all my craft, 80+% usually means HQ in the earlier levels.
Now I am even afraid to complete a synth on 80%. In fact I just failed to achieve HQ on a 92% shield. Just a very unlucky day.
It is very disheartening to go out there and farm for the mats for hours just to come back and fail.
Crafting is fun in this game, so I enjoy despite failing the HQ. But gathering is not.

Failing to HQ leveling gear is not the end of the world. They usually don't sell too well anyway. Or if it was for your own use, you'll outgrow it soon enough. You are still missing some important abilities, so just focus on the leveling now and worry about 100% HQ later.

As long as an item is produced, you haven't failed. Not everything needs to be HQ. Even NQ items will sell to players who don't want to pay HQ prices.
